Long Lake Getaway - Modern, Quiet Accessible Suite, No Stairs or Steps, includes Washer & Dryer with Xbox and Switch 2 for entertainment

Location. Easy drive to downtown. Close to bike trails in large park. King-size bed. Ice cubs in the fridge. We felt very welcome.

Suite was exceptionally clean and fresh, king bed was very comfortable even for my husband who has a bad back and bed linens were so nice - crisp and cool just the way I like them. Plus the hosts were amazing! We needed to check in a little early to make our dinner reservations in downtown Halifax. They bent over backwards so we could check in a little early and freshen up before heading to the restaurant. It was a great experience.

The basement apartment was clean and in a quiet, residential location about 15 minutes from Halifax. The shower was pleasant and the bed comfortable.

BUT! We did not feel welcome nor at home. After all the rules delivered before we arrived and posted all around the apartment, not once did the owners either welcome us, introduce themselves or check in with us. I even called both numbers on our arrival and neither of them called me back. One day returning home, their dog got out of their upstairs section of the house understandably protecting their territory. That was an unpleasant and unpredictable moment. The rules state clearly about not making any noise because they live upstairs, even the TV volume seemed to be restricted, so much so that we couldn't hear it. And yet they are clearly unaware of their own noise. They get up at 6am, the dog barks and you can hear every footstep, kitchen and bathroom noise they make. The apartment is equipped with the most basic of utensils. Only 2 of everything, chipped plates and nothing to use for the microwave. Having been in self catering hospitality ourselves for 10 years, this was disappointing to say the least. There is very little natural light, so there was no relaxing in the apartment during the day. We had to go out early and get back late. We were glad to move on and even considered leaving after our first day, we felt so uncomfortable.
