In 1335, the district was first mentioned in a document. Beautiful half-timbered houses characterize the district in the middle of the natural landscape.
The tradition of domestic slaughtering continues to be maintained here.
In the district of Niederthalhausen, the old custom of rolling down a straw-wrapped, burning wheel from the mountain to the district of the village, the so-called "Helrod", was preserved on the first Sunday after Ash Wednesday.
The village's children and adolescents collect straw, wrapping the wheel around it and rolling it down from the "Hardt" to the valley. The events are accompanied by the visitors with the call "Helrod, Helrod, Helrod".
Social hours can be spent in the restaurant Allendorf with a large hall. Also guest rooms are available.
The village center is the newly designed Brunnenplatz.
