About this farm stay rental
Beautiful 18th century, stone Bergerie, located in a small peaceful hamlet 25 minutes walk from Lourmarin, 3mins by car! It has the tranquility of a country residence, but is not isolated. The property is over 300 square meters and offers luxurious accommodation. Originally farm buildings and still has the original pigsty, cochonnerie! Privacy is guaranteed, by entry through a private courtyard. Surrounded by old stone walls and high hedges to block the Mistral. Outdoor living is possible for a large portion of the year.The pool house has seating and eating areas, heated pool is 12 x 6 meters, set among olive trees, with own shower and toilet. Adjacent to kitchen is another covered eating area and next to it a comfortable sitting area on the large stone terrace which offers more dining and shade. The Bergerie offers 6 bedrooms and 5 baths, with 1 King, 2 Queen, and 3 Twin bedded rooms. Configuration of bedrooms lends itself to several couples sharing or 2 families.
Hamlet Location: This is a small hamlet without any commercial activity in the older part of the hamlet. However it does have a local Super U within 1km of the property which stocks most of the items one might need. Preferred shopping is for local produce at the wonderful outdoor markets. There is one to be found each day within a short distance. The Lourmarin market is one of the largest, most colorful and most popular in the area!
The Luberon: This area has a lot of different attractions. Roman ruins, national parks, wineries, hilltop villages, Chateaux to visit,zoo and beaches close by. Lourmarin, a beautiful cobbled street village, has at least 14 restaurants with a range from Pizza to 2 local Michilin starred restaurants. It also has tennis courts. Plus many interesting stores.

Revisiting this property 15 years after our first visit, we were delighted to find it even more beautiful than before. The house is perfectly appointed with anything one might need including modern bathrooms and in-room air conditioners - not "standard" in many homes in France. The house and property work very well for large groups with enough space to enjoy activities and dining together, while also providing the ability to find quiet spaces to enjoy a book or just stare at the clouds alone. Adding to the experience, and helping this rental stand out above many others, is the care and attention provided by the owner and property manager. From pre-booking to following up on our last day, this team provided local recommendations, responded to last-minute requests, and followed up throughout our stay to ensure that we had everything we needed. We can't wait to return!

Four couples spent a week at La Grande Bergerie the end of June 2013.
Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations.....from cordial, helpful e-mails from the owner and an excellent orientation by Greta to the amazing house and grounds. The house is very tastefully furnished, has beautiful bathrooms, high-end linens and any appliance or kitchen tool we could want. It definitely did not have the feel of a "rental" but of someone's home. The outdoor space is equally lovely with gorgeous gardens and a pool. The outdoor kitchen was large and a perfect spot to dine on windy evenings.
Our only regret is that we did not spend much timing enjoying the property and just relaxing. We spent most of our time out and about and, if we return (which we'd love to do!), we'd plan more time "at home."

Our family of 5 stayed at la Grande Bergerie for a week in June 2011. We couldn't have been happier with our experience from pre-travel support from the helpful and enthusiastic owner, Margaret, to support once we arrived at the house (thank you Greta!). The house was even more beautiful than the pictures. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms remodeled, fantastic kitchen, living room with great couches where we read books from the upstairs library. The house is very large. We only used three bedrooms/bathrooms but checked out the others and they were of equal quality. The outdoor eating areas (we tried them all) were wonderful for dinners of roasted chicken and local wine. The pool was clean and the perfect temperature for swimming. The lavender and roses were stunning. I can't say enough about the beauty and quality of the house and grounds. We didn't want to leave but did manage to ride bikes to Lourmarin several times, enjoyed the cafes and market and one evening we rode home by the full moon. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this house and in fact have already told several friends about it. Thank you for creating a slice of paradise on Earth!
