Shepherd’s Crook is a stone-built house in Grasmere, Cumbria, set over three floors and sleeping up to eight guests including infants. The property offers a ground-floor coat and boot room with an electric boot dryer for four pairs of boots. On the first floor, you will find a double bedroom, a cloakroom with basin and WC, a kitchen/diner with dining for eight, and a sitting room with an electric stove. The second floor hosts three further bedrooms: a double with TV and en‑suite walk‑in shower, basin and WC; a double (zip/link, can be twin on request) with en‑suite walk‑in shower, basin and WC; and a double (zip/link, can be twin on request). A family bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC is also located on this floor.
The property includes central heating, an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, kettle and toaster. Entertainment includes a TV with Freeview, WiFi, an Amazon Echo Dot and a selection of books and games. Fuel and power are included in the rent, as well as bed linen and towels. A parking permit is provided for one car, with additional roadside parking and other nearby car parks available. Sorry, no pets and no smoking or vaping. Shops lie 0.4 miles away, with a pub and river 0.1 miles and the lake 0.4 miles.

Region: Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Town: in the village of Grasmere there are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District.

A great property right in the centre of Grasmere, near good pubs. Beautifully decorated and furnished with good bathroom facilities and plenty of hot water. Be aware there are lots of stairs. The downside is no parking making unloading and loading cars difficult. Also check out is extremely early at 9:30 and we were still being asked to strip the beds ourselves and be out early, which wasn’t great and there was no sign of the bags they wanted bedding put in. We felt this was a hangover from Covid and not necessary now.

The property was very enjoyable. There were 5 of us. We were a couple with two adult children and an elderly mother. The centralized location of the cottage was ideal. Unfortunately, the mattress in the first bedroom (the double bed) was very uncomfortable. It seemed to have springs nearly poking through in several spots making it nearly unusable. The other mattresses were very comfy.
