Don julio, Eddie, y Leila were absolutely amazing. Very helpful and welcoming. Felt like family. If you want to experience real el zonte this is the place. Locals hanging around the place all the time, bbqs, great music but also respectful of a reasonable sleep hour for the surfers. Only thing is if you’re staying in the dorms be prepared for the heat. There is a fan but it’s still very hot until late into the night.

We had the private cabin and paid $60 for one night which it was in no way worth. There was an air conditioning unit in the room but we were told because we’d booked through booking.com it wasn’t technically part of our booking?? They then said they’d do us a favour and let us use it anyway (because the ceiling fan did not by any means cool the whole room only the bed directly underneath) but we couldn’t use the air conditioning unit as the remote was missing. The en-suite toilet was not very nice and there were cobwebs everywhere just generally the whole place didn’t feel very clean. The shared outdoor shower was not the nicest experience either and we found the overall vibe of the place quite odd, clearly a lot of people that were staying there long term and some volunteers so hard to work out who actually worked there properly - whether way none of them were welcoming or polite to us on arrival or throughout the stay. The kitchen looked pretty well equipped but again very rustic. If it was cheaper we wouldn’t complain but for the price tag I would expect more.
