About this chalet rental

The estate is situated in the village of Monteiller, on the broad, sunny sloping shoulder of Saviese. Its location offers a spectacular view of the Rhone valley, of the two fortresses of Sion, the mountain slopes across the valley, and the Dent Blanche glacier. Throughout the year, this is an ideal spot for hiking, skiing, sunning or simply relaxing. The traditional Valais-style house has been carefully modernized and is tastefully and comfortably furnished.
Situated at the road of the village, there is no problem to reach the house in wintertime by car.

The house has character and is well-equipped. We particularly loved the terrace out of the kitchen door that kept us out of the sun but did not spoil the amazing view.

The house made us feel home right away. It has multiple places to sit, inside and outside. The bathroom is very large and kitchen with supplies is outstanding. The view is just perfect! The location is also really good. Just outside Sion, but perfectly situation to go to places. Def recommendation to stay here.

Warm, well equipped and with it's own quirky style, this property puts you in a perfect place to explore the surrounding countryside on foot or by bike. In easy reach of interesting towns and winter ski resorts by car.

This property has virtually every amenity that you need and has an amazing view of the valley and snow-capped mountains. The hostess was extremely friendly, helpful and kind.

Two adults wanting an early summer break in the Alps will not be disappointed in this property. It is a very well modernized house of the traditional type: large, attractive and well furnished rooms, a new and very well-equipped kitchen and three delightful outdoor spaces. The views are fantastic and constantly changing. The only small criticism affecting English vistors is that bed linen and towels are not provided, and the only information provided about the property was in German - I would urge the owner to consider rectifying this. The area is particularly good for people wanting a walking holiday with well-signed footpaths for people of all ability levels - the paths along the network of "bisses" or irrigation channels are delightful. The local villages provided all essential services and the local public transport is so efficient it would be possible to have a car-free holiday. I can certainly recommend this property to fellow-travellers, but would suggest that it might not suit parties with children so well.

Wir (junge Familie mit Kleinkind) haben Anfang September einen sehr schönen erholsamen zweiwöchigen Urlaub in dem Winzerhaus verbracht und waren rundum begeistert: Ein Haus mit Stil und Charakter. Ein altes Walliserhaus für heutige Wünsche renoviert und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die Besitzer bewohnen das Haus zeitweise selbst, leben aber überwiegend in Süddeutschland und Indonesien, was man an einigen Einrichtungselementen sehen kann und dem Haus eine besondere Note verleiht. Der talseitige Garten ist zwar nicht sehr gross, doch bietet er an mehreren Orten Bänke zum Sitzen mit jeweils faszinierenden Ausblicken: auf die Stadt Sion 500 Meter tiefer im Rhonetal mit den beiden berühmten Burgen. Auf Reb- und Berghänge und schnee- und eisbedeckte Gipfel. Liegestühle stehen bereit, und die überdachte Terrasse bietet die Möglichkeit, in den Schatten zu flüchten, wenn die Sonne zu heiss wird. Angrenzend an das gepflegte Gartenstück gibt es zum Grundstück gehörende Wiesen und Wäldchen zum spielen. Vom Dorf Monteiller aus kann man kleine Spaziergänge machen, mit kurzen Autofahrten gelangt man in spektakuläre Wandergebiete: am Hausberg Prabe (10 min Auto), um den Sanetschpass (20 min Auto), in der Umgebung von Anzere oder Crans, oder in den fast mediterranen Rebhängen unterhalb des Dorfes. In die grossen und hochgelegenen Wandergebiete um Verbier, Arolla, Ferpekle u.a. sind wir mit unserer anderthalbjährigen Tochter noch nicht gegangen, doch wer weiss, ein andermal in ein paar Jahren vielleicht, denn wiederkommen wollen wir sicher!
