Sail Away Cottage was built in 1920 — one of the oldest homes on Anna Maria Island — and moved to its current location in Bradenton Beach in the 1980s. The bones and character of a century-old beach cottage are intact. The island-themed updates are throughout. From the elevated position, you can hear the Gulf waves without seeing the water directly — and on a clear day, there's even a peek of the Gulf from the right angle.
One hundred and seventy steps to the sandy beach. That's the walk from the front door to the sand — specific enough to plan around, short enough to make spontaneous beach trips genuinely easy.
The private backyard is the outdoor living space. A heated pool sits in the center, framed by new tropical landscaping that screens the yard from the street. A large deck wraps the pool area — the right setup for morning coffee, afternoon sun, and evening cookouts. An outdoor shower handles post-beach cleanup before coming inside.
Three bedrooms sleep six. Two bedrooms have queen beds. The third bedroom has two twin beds. Two full bathrooms throughout. Flat-screen TVs in all bedrooms and the living room. High-speed WiFi included.
Three-car parking is included — generous for a Bradenton Beach property of this size.
Sail Away Cottage requires a one-week minimum stay. Not pet-friendly.

We spent a week at this lovely home on the island and enjoyed every minute of it. The house is comfortable and nicely furnished. Communication, check in and check out was seamless.The location is fantastic, the beach is directly across the street. Highly recommend!

The home on the inside is very nice - beds are comfy - close to everything we wanted to do - groceries- restaurants- beach - we had a very enjoyable stay !! The deck does need some very much needed repair - the pool needed some attention the day we got there - it was not clean and we were told the pool was tended to twice a week - on Fridays and Wednesday - we got there on a Saturday and it did not have any chlorine in it - and we spent 2 hours cleaning it and filling it to where it needed to be to pump water - the filter was full of leaves - the pool guy did come on Wednesday and did fill it with chlorine - much better - it was a great time just laying back and enjoying the October weather !!! We will be back!!!

The home has a cute beachy cottage feel but lacked a good cleaning before we arrived. The refrigerator and cabinets had lots of dirty spots from hands, which are a turn off when you'll be cooking and eating in the space. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots, and pans. It also had a blender and some baking dishes, which came in handy for our group. There were not many seasonings other than salt and pepper and whatever else anyone has left behind. We appreciated the beach wagon and chairs and pool floats/toys. The outside furniture on the pool level (underneath the balcony) doesn't have any cushions, though they are pictured. The pool area is well landscaped, but that meant it was full of mosquitos during our visit in November. We found some mosquito coils left behind and these seemed to help, so we bought more on Amazon and had them delivered. Pool temperature was good! Probably around 80 degrees F. The rental company provided service to be expected. The location to the beach is awesome and a huge benefit to this property! If you're up for walking, it is walkable to downtown Bradenton in one direction and Walgreens and some other shops in the opposite direction, if you don't mind a 20-25 min walk in both directions. The wagon helps with carting groceries or other goods back from the shops. We appreciated the back balcony for morning coffee or evening card games. I'd consider staying here again but would search for other properties in the area first.
