About this cottage rental

Our cozy family cottage has 100' of private waterfront on beautiful Torch Lake. The cottage has housed our family visits to Torch Lake for generations, and we'd like to share our little escape with others. Torch Lake is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the world and with one look into the crystal clear blue water you'll see why. We are fortunate to have a very gradual increase in depth for several hundred feet out into the water, creating a striking sight where the drop-offs signal the deeper blue depths of Torch. We have a dock that extends almost 90' out to the lake, with a 12'x12' platform at the end for enjoying some time in the sun. At the end of the dock it's not even 3' deep! Just down the road is the Torch River Bridge, near the famous Torch Lake Sandbar and Torch River. Just across the lake is the town of Alden.

In 2009 we made significant renovations, completely modernizing the kitchen, bathroom, and living areas (but taking care to retain the old cottage look and feel). In the years since we have added a clothes dryer and mooring anchor, and rebuilt the stone wall on the lakeshore and added sand to our small beach area out front.

Boating Information: Torch Lake is a great place to water-ski, go tubing, and do all sorts of other water sports. We have a 90' long dock that can be used to access boats, although the water is still shallow at the end! Public accesses are close by. We have a mooring anchor that can be used, and local nearby marinas also offer overnight slip and trailered storage options that our guests have used.

Golf Information: There are a number of top golf courses in the area, including designs by Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Gary Player. Some of the more popular locations include Shanty Creek Resorts with 'The Legend', designed by Arnold Palmer, as well as 3 other courses and Grand Traverse Resort & Spa with 'The Bear' by Jack Nicklaus and 'The Wolverine' by Gary Player.

Area Festivals: Elk Rapids Harbor Days --- Traverse City Cherry Festival --- Alden Days --- Interlochen Summer Arts Festival --- Petoskey Festival on the Bay --- Suttons Bay Art Festival --- Northport-Leelanau Peninsula Wine And Food Festival --- Suttons Bay Jazzfest --- Charlevoix Venetian Festival --- just to name a few!!

Note: Any reservation request will require a signed rental agreement before booking is considered final.

The local township has severely restricted short-term rentals. Only a limited number of short-term rental weeks are available.

We loved our stay at this cozy, charming cottage on Torch Lake. The shady trees surrounding the property kept it cool and peaceful, and the west side location was perfect. Each morning, I started the day reading a novel with coffee on the deck while watching the sun rise over the crystal-clear water. The cottage was close enough to the sandbar on the south end of the lake that my wife and I could easily kayak there and back. In the evenings, we enjoyed grilling dinner and sitting by the fire with s’mores, thanks to the provided firewood and grill. On nights we didn’t cook, we explored a few great local restaurants nearby. We also took a day trip to Sleeping Bear Dunes for some hiking and incredible views of Lake Michigan, which was just about 45 minutes away. Another highlight was visiting the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, also roughly a 45-minute drive. This cottage was relaxing, private, and had everything we needed for a perfect getaway. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and charming place to stay on the lake.

A wonderfully located, super private, classic cottage with a wonderful deck, dock and fire pit. This was our second stay and it was just as we remembered. My son’s friend brought his boat and the kids enjoyed time on the sandbar while the adults enjoyed the shady deck and swimming off the dock. A great summer getaway for our family.

This property is priced very fairly for the location. Plan at least year in advance if you wanna party at the sand bar. It's worth it if you are not from them state. We thou, are from the state. If ya wanna know what a classic northern cabin is, this is it. Clean, homey, let's play a board game and watch tv.....WiFi is lit, podcast & domino`s. For us, cause were from the state, it's nothing too special. We just thought better cause COVID, couldn't go to Ireland. We f-off and do most rec fun potions. Alllll the rec, have all the fire's/ be well/nature. Easy trip to Traverse or the other old white ppl towntowns.....petoskey, food, whatever....EAT AT PEARLS. Pick a winery. If there is anything wrong for any reason, communication is very prompt. You are looked after. And for us, that matters no matter where you are.Our runner up last minute why 2020 covid HONEYMOON. But please mother of God let's get outta usaThank You.
