About this house rental

The old village house was renovated in 2010 / 2011 in the style of the Luberon, with love and taste. It breathes charm, full of sunlight and offers relaxation. On the ground floor are the entrance hall, cloakroom, boiler, washing machine, and a small. Courtyard where you can sit unseen outside in the shade of the fig tree, and can eat. The first floor contains the kitchen, the dining room, one bedroom with bath and second bedroom with shower room. On the second floor a third bedroom and the 50 m2 living room with sofas and armchairs, radio and TV. From there you have the great view of some rooftops and the mountains of Luberon. A self-service shop and a very good bakers are three doors away. To a large public swimming pool is one in 2 minutes (open in July & Aug). Several parking lots are not far from the house.
A cottage for hikers, 15 paths drawn from the village in the countryside.

From the village of St. Saturnin go 15 marked hiking trails of varying difficulty and length. The scenery is very charming, and usually one meets nobody.
In the village there are 5 restaurants with different price levels. To a large supermarket in Apt is 7 km, as far is the bio-self-service shop in the industrial area of Apt.

The house was truly amazing filled with traditional French pieces with much thought to make guests feel totally at ease. The hosts, Elizabeth and Jürgen were extremely welcoming and helpful with all their suggestions. We highly recommend this property

We loved our 3-week stay in this wonderful house. The bed was comfortable, we slept well. The dining room table was our “Command Central” where we mapped and planned our day’s adventures over breakfast with fresh crescents from the Pâtisserie at the end of the block. My two favorite rooms in the house were the spacious red bathroom with the clawfoot tub (which became mine), and then especially, the beautiful, inviting upstairs living room. We opened the big windows, pulled two chairs over in front of them and shared wine, bread, and cheese while taking in the pastoral view across the rooftops. It was incredibly relaxing. The 4 restaurants we ate at and a small but well stocked grocery store were just steps from our door. We so enjoyed exploring the Luberon from our place in Saint Saturnin Les Apt that we will be returning again next year. Last, but not least, Elizabeth and Jurgen are truly Super Hosts. They care about their guests and go to great lengths to be helpful. Getting to know them was a highlight of our stay.

StSaturnin is highly recommended, unfortunately the house is not. When we arrived it was very dirty, esp. the kitchen. There were also hundreds of dead ants in the living room, the toilet seat was badly stained, the washing machine didn’t work, and the air inside was so musty it was hard to breath. We spent a full day cleaning. We told this to Elisabeth and she replied saying the cleaner “spent 6 hours vacuuming and washing everywhere” and that we complained too much. Elisabeth later told us the cleaner admitted she didn’t finish. When Elisabeth was over to treat the on-going ant issue we asked approx. how much the heat would cost, and she said likely many hundreds of euros for the month (we agreed to pay for heat in return for a rent discount). We were shocked since we had reduced it to just 13 C. We said she should have warned us in advance when she first asked us to pay for it. She then started sending numerous emails saying we “ascribed evil intentions,” “everyone appreciates the house except...you,” “you only see the glass as half empty,” “you really don't see who you are dealing with,” “change your outlook from victim, if you can,” etc. We asked her to stop emailing, but she continued a few more times. Also: the shower doesn’t drain so you are standing in water; no door on the bedroom that opens to the livingroom; and the church bells ring through the night. In the end she offered to refund the cleaning fee and waived 100E for heat, but our stay was already tainted.

Spent a week here, perfect for day trips, wonderful view from the top floor, and good local shops for the necessities. The owners were very friendly and very helpful, we may very much return!

Live the dream in this adorable apartment in Provence! With two boulangeries, a small grocery store, a butcher and several cafés and restaurants the town is a fabulous base for a visit to the Luberon. Despite a tiny kitchen and a lot of stairs the location and magnificently decorated top floor «salon » make minor inconveniences unimportant. Hosts were extremely responsive and during a unusual cold snap a request for heat to be turned on was met immediately.

The standout in any rental accommodation is the attitude of the owners, and Jurgen and Elizabeth were simply wonderful. Fresh roses from their own garden, delivered twice during our week’s stay, friendly and immediate communication to address any questions and Jurgen’s truly wonderful help when we had tyre problems. He accompanied us to a specialty tyre repair establishment in a town 35 kms away, acting as guide and translator. I think he thought we were slightly mad but was very entertaining during our trip. The gite has the most beautiful upstairs sitting room. High up in the top of the house the windows open out to views over the Luberon which are unbeatable. Two doors away is a wonderful village bakery and next to it a small but well stocked supermarket. The village market is held weekly in the square right outside the gite. We ate twice at the St Hubert restaurant, just steps away. First, lunch on the beautiful terrace, and dinner on our last evening. Both service and food were excellent. Highly recommended. We cannot recommend this lovely place highly enough and wish Jurgen and Elizabeth all the very best for the future. We have stayed in the Luberon many times over the years and this has been one of our very best yet.

We felt extremely lucky to have chosen this property in the middle of St Saturnin les Apt. The town is quiet and lovely, offers bakeries, grocery, a butcher and restaurants, and an ATM (DAB), all just a short walk away. The weekly market took place right underneath our windows, yet created no noise. Windmills, an old fortress, old churches and lots of interesting architecture in spades. Views over the roofs of the town below, the valley and the Luberon - it was fabulous! The house is authentic in style and well equipped for a longer stay for those of us who arrive with just a suitcase. Beds are new and comfortable. Our hosts were very accommodating, always available, willing to communicate in French, English and German, and super helpful. We would return any time!

I loved this house. It’s like a perfect French movie set of a very comfortable traditional townhouse in a delightful village. Decorated with antique pieces, lovely Provençal colours, comfy beds w/pretty linens, lots of artwork, very charming. The small kitchen is well-equipped, w/a very large fridge, gas cooktop w/electric oven, excellent pots & pans & a good variety of china & glassware. The wonderful Tues. morning Farmer’s/ Artisan’s Market was literally right outside my front door, taking over the Place Gambetta & offshoot streets. The 2 boulangeries in St. Sat are terrific, with Côté Gourmandise being just a few yards away; perfect to pick up your morning croissants & baguette. There are 4 levels, w/the kitchen/dining room having a great view & the very spacious top-floor ‘salon’, w/two comfy couches & lounge chairs, a spectacular one over the valley to the Alpilles. The main bathroom is huge with a fabulous old cast iron soaking tub, while the second level bedroom has an ensuite toilet & small tiled shower with copious hot water & great pressure. It’s a very calm, quiet home thanks to double glazed windows; you only hear street noise if they’re open. There’s even a beautiful, flower-bedecked, stone-walled, private furnished courtyard at the back of the entry level, perfect for eating al fresco in the warmer weather. Owners Elisabeth & Jürgen are warm, friendly & very helpful, attending to any needs or issues quickly & well. Public parking is nearby (two lots).
