About this house rental

ED Refnr. 920822

The house is situated in the small village of Valros in the south of France, between Béziers and Pézenas, in the department of Hérault. The distance to the sea with fine sandy beaches is about 20km and can be easily reached via newly built highways. The house (a former winegrower's house) was built around 1900, is beautifully integrated into the village and has been completely renovated in recent years. In contrast to many row village houses, this house is free-standing with a garden plot of about 200 m² and an equally large courtyard (e.g. suitable for playing pétanque). In and around the house there are many games - and space is also available. With the bicycles the area can be explored. Valros is an old grown village in a rural location. However, the necessary infrastructure is available. All shops of the daily need like baker, magazine shop and a small supermarket are attainable by foot in few minutes. The house consists of a well-equipped kitchen-living room, two bedrooms, a living room with a fireplace, a bathroom in the house, a spacious entrance, a large terrace (and below a second shower/WC room, incl. washing machine) and a garage/remise. The garden has two grassy areas (due to dry periods and water shortage in summer no English lawn can be offered), a barbecue area with a large stone grill and a swing. The shed houses the 5 bicycles (plus two children's bicycles), a windsurf board, the table tennis table, various toys, a small workshop and some firewood (for the fireplace). Our house is ideal for families with children. In addition to a cot, a folding cot (travel cot) and a high chair, there are also two car seats for children (9-18kg and 12-25kg), two car seat boosters for slightly older children and two bicycle seats for children. We also have two children's bicycles (for children aged 6-12).

Excursion possibilities: A short trip to the ruin "Tour" in Valros is always worthwhile. The great view over the huge wine region, the little village Valros, into the mountains and if the view is good even up to the sea is overwhelming. The historical city Pézenas - city of Molière - is only 7 km away and can be reached comfortably by bicycle as well as by bus. On Saturdays, Pézenas regularly hosts a market that is well known far beyond the district. In the summer, Valros and its surroundings host numerous festivals, such as the harvest festival at the beginning of July and the wine festival (with free wine!) at the end of July. Several seaside resorts (Cap d'Agde, Valras-Plage, Mèze au Etang, Marseillan-Plage, Sète and many more) are within easy reach. St. Guilhem-le-Désert: a picturesque village about 40 km from Valros in a small valley. Nearby are the caves of Clamouse and the historic bridge Pont du diable. Lac du Salagou and Cirque de Mourèze: a beautiful lake in the foothills (ideal for surfing!) and a bizarre rock formation next to a romantic village. The picturesque towns of Montpellier and Béziers are ideal for a full day excursion: they are only 70 or 15 minutes by bus from Valros. Carcassonne is also beautiful. With the four bicycles available (plus two children's bicycles) you can explore the beautiful, colourful wine and vineyard area. On the river Hérault near St Guilhem-le-Désert rafting, kayaking and hydrospeed boat trips can be made. In Valmagne you can visit a Cistercian monastery. To the west of Béziers is the historic Oppidum d'Enserune ruins, from where you can enjoy a splendid view of a concentric, drained Etang and the Pyrenees. For wine lovers: At unbeatable low prices there is a variety of good, local wines (see also this wine page) available for tasting (among others the Picpoul de Pinet also known in our country). A visit to a winery in the area is definitely worthwhile. In the area of Marseillan there are some nature reserves and bird reserves. The distance to the mountains is only about 20 km. There, one can go on extended hikes in a beautiful area with a fascinating vegetation. The Gorge d'Héric and the Tarn region are very recommendable. On the Canal du Midi you can make boat trips. Sports in and around the village: tennis, football, pétanque, hiking, cycling (with our bikes), horse riding (a Centre Equestre is located in the village and another larger one about eight kilometres away), golf (the nearest golf course is about five kilometres away) and of course jogging between the vines.

Other living room features (Living room1): Sofa (can also be used as bed sofa), bookcase, radio/CD, salon table and 2 rattan chairs

Other bedroom furniture (Bedroom1): Air conditioning, small table, wardrobe for storing clothes

Nearby sports facilities: Fishing, Canoeing, Climbing, Mountainbiking, Paragliding, Bike tours, Riding possibilities, Surfing, Water skiing

Location description: The Languedoc in the deep south of France forms the transition between the Massif Central and the beaches of the Mediterranean. The name Languedoc refers to the local south of France. Dialect (langue d'oc) in which 'yes' means 'oc' rather than 'oui'. Thanks to the Mediterranean climate and the fertile mud deposited by many rivers, agriculture has always played an important role here. Since the last century, the farmers in Languedoc have lived mainly from viticulture. The typical Mediterranean atmosphere, the beaches and the foothills of the Massif Central with its many excursion destinations are particularly interesting for tourists. Valros is situated between Beziérs and Pézenas, about 20 km from the sea. From the ruin 'Tour' you can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view over the village of 1,200 inhabitants and the surrounding vineyards. In Valros you will find both the tranquillity of a rural (wine-growing) municipality and the proximity to tourist resorts.
