Fuencaliente: House in the beach

Well, that view!!! It’s stupendous. You won’t find a better one on the island. My friend and I spent many happy hours watching the waves crash in (storm out at sea, we presumed) and really didn’t want to leave to catch our flight home. The house itself is even nicer than in the photos, very clean, welcoming and modern. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is a real bonus. The kitchen has everything you might need, except a decent kettle (the one provided looked to us like a keep-hot jug). But we happily boiled water in a pan. Problem solved. A few things to note … the little seafood shack/restaurant close to the house has, we were told, “permanently closed”. That was a real shame. You can go to the Puerta Princess hotel, a few minutes’ drive away, and you can eat at their restaurants if they’re not too busy. In other words, you can’t bank on it. A little further afield, there’s a fabulous taverna on the beach at Puntalarga, really delicious food there, and very friendly service. And at the salt pans, there’s a top-quality restaurant (formerly Michelin starred). Again, wonderful food and Canary Island dishes to try. On the other hand, buy food at one of the two supermarkets in Fuencaliente and enjoy them looking at the view from the house! While you’re there, buy bottled water as the supply at the house is not drinkable. If you forget, no problem, as the host kindly leaves three large bottles out for you. Oh, did I mention the view?!? :)))))

Overall very nice house with a beautiful view. The owner is very nice and responds fast. There were only some minor cons like the generator of the neighbour was loud late at night.

Since last time we visited the Zamora beach house the house was upgraded. The garage metamorphoses delivered a beautiful extra well equipped bathroom and a luxury spacious bedroom. The view from the balcony is the best of the whole island as it is right above the beach en the view on the cliffs.

Die Lage des Hauses ist wirklich einmalig, für Strandliebhaber perfekt. Mit fünf Personen ist man allerdings recht eng untergebracht, was durch die überdachte Terrasse nur bei entsprechenden Wetterverhältnissen ausgeglichen wird. Für Eltern mit Kindern perfekt. Man sollte wissen, dass das Haus komplett solar versorgt wird - Duschen vor oder nach Sonnenuntergang deswegen recht frisch. Die Waschmaschine ist kein Waschvollautomat und bedarf der Aufmerksamkeit des Benutzers. Für die Waschmaschine ist die zweite Dusche wohl ausgebaut worden. Toaster war nicht vorhanden, wir haben das gekaufte Toastbrot dann im Gasofen geröstet. Notwendige Renovierung startet vermutlich demnächst, der Architekt hatte uns kurz besucht und Fotos gemacht. Mit einer besseren Beschreibung hätten wir uns vorher auf dies Verhältnisse einstellen können - dennoch haben wir den Aufenthalt genossen und jeden Sonnenuntergang von der Terrasse bewundert.
