About this house rental

Situated at the end of a quite lane, Ait Ma Chroi (place of my heart) is an architect-designed house built by my father 30+ years ago and has been a much-loved family home ever since. It offers absolute peace whilst being in easy reach of many East Cork attractions - Ballymaloe cookery school , Ballycotton, Cork city and Cobh, golfing and surfing.

The house has a large double height, sun-filled open living/dining area with wooden floors and rugs and views of the countryside from all sides. Doors open onto the south-facing, sea view patio at the front and a courtyard garden at the rear with table and chairs for outside dining.

The house is heated with wifi enabled electric radiators. A large Clearview wood-burning stove makes it warm and cosy even in the winter.

The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to prepare and cook meals. There is a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, a fridge and fridge-freezer.

To the front of the house, facing south to the sea, is an open garden giving onto the fields, while a sheltered courtyard at the rear catches the late afternoon sun. On a clear night you can see beautiful starry skies. From the garden are far reaching views all around giving a sense of space. The house is a family home, so there are plenty of books, guide books, puzzles and a few games.

There is no television but good WiFi so you can stream films/ programmes on your laptop.

There are two bedrooms one at either end of the L-shape, allowing for privacy. There is one large double ensuite with bath with views across the fields to the south and a door to the courtyard garden.

The second room is a twin with adjacent shower room. The house provides comfortable accommodation for four, with a travel cot if required.

The mile long quiet sandy beach at Ballybranagan is just a short drive away – perfect for rock-pooling, paddling and swimming. There is a surf school at Inch beach and a sauna box that regularly visits both Inch and Ballycroneen beaches. There are a number of golf courses in the area and sailing in Cork Harbour is within a short drive.

Great house, ideal location for our needs (car, though, is an absolute essential). Probably the best house we've stayed in East Cork (and there's been a few - relatives in the area!)

As delightful a stay in Ireland as can be imagined! The cottage is cozy and immediately welcoming, with loads of colorful flowers on the tidy property. The view of the Celtic Sea from the patio is breathtaking. The kitchen is well-equipped, so stock up prior to your arrival, fill the ‘fridges (yes, two!), open a bottle of wine, put on some music, and tuck in with a game of vintage Monopoly. Should you choose to venture out, you are only a few minutes drive from Cork, Cobh, and Ballycotton, where a meal at The Salty Dog (especially Fred’s fish chowder!) is a must-not-miss. Sláinte!
