Agriturismo Il Solengo

Posto molto bello

We had never stayed at an agriturismo before and didn't know what to expect. The star of the establishment is without doubt the restaurant - they have a beautiful outdoor space with hundreds of fairy lights, comfy and relaxed seating areas, the option of an unlimited buffet and an indoor restaurant with à la carte menu. On Friday and Saturday nights the place filled up with locals coming for dinner, and the food was excellent. The location is beautiful, in the midst of olive groves, but not walkable - you will need a car to get here and get around. It is about half an hour from Rome but you don't feel like you are anywhere near the city as it is so quiet and peaceful. The rooms do feel like an afterthought (which they probably were) - they are basic and sparsely furnished but clean and located near the pig sty! (You don't smell the pigs but you do hear them in the morning if you leave the window open, although this didn't bother us.) Much more annoying, unfortunately, was the owner's dog, which took to barking at night and in the mornings. There is no reception so you just have to grab a member of staff who will take you to your room, but the beds are made and rooms cleaned daily. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

My only real complaint is the beds could be comfier (and that the owner's dog didn't bark at night!). Breakfast was also extremely basic (supermarket-bought croissants and snacks), which was a bit disappointing considering the dinner was so good!
