Zum fröhlichen Tagelöhner

Die Unterkunft war einzigartig. Wir haben schon einiges an Unterkünften in unseren Urlauben gesehen aber diese hier in Quedlinburg schlägt alles. Die Lage und die Ausstattung alles war ausgezeichnet. Die Gastgeber waren sehr hilfsbereit und sehr freundlich. Wir werden wieder kommen im nächsten Jahr.

Located directly beneath the Quedlinburg castle, this house used to be the dwelling of day-labourers and other simple folk in the old ages - hence the name „Zum Fröhlichen Tagelöhner“ = „The Happy Day-Labourer’s“. Entering the house, though, one is in for a most pleasant surprise - surely the inhabitants that lived in this location back in the day would have thought this place now worthy of a king! Built into the slope of the castle hill and re-constructed from the ground up, it is now in fact brand-new. The highlight is a cozy, bright, surprisingly spacious „downstairs“ living room area (including an open kitchen fitted with every amenity we were looking for - and more) with a fireplace, and a large, very private, quiet terrace high above a garden which it overlooks. On the ground floor (street level), there is another seating area, a second bathroom with shower, and access to the garage (such easy parking is a great asset in the old town centre). The upstairs comprises the spacious master bathroom (also fitted with a shower) and three (double-) bedrooms two of which overlook the terrace. Due to the location and the surroundings, there is very little noise. We found the house super clean. It is decorated very stylishly but remains very cozy at the same time. The terrace (sporting two levels) not only has a table and 8 comfortable chairs as well as a big, exceptionally effective sun umbrella, but also includes an additional, most comfortable „lounge area“ which we extensively used! Technically noteworthy are the digital cable TV and very dependable, high-speed WiFi internet connection. Quedlinburg, is historically very significant and a true jewel of an old town - the central location of the house was key to explore the town centre and the castle on foot (tip: don't miss a stroll up Münzenberg opposite the castle hill - what a view!). At the same time, the house provides an excellent basis for exploring the beautiful Harz-area by car or public transport.

Nothing comes to mind - really everything was perfect! Maybe one little caveat here: as beautiful and cleverly laid out the house is - you need to be willing and able to climb some steep stairs, due to the location on the hill-slope. But that's just a necessary part of the package.
