In the heart of upper Bergamo and facing one of the nicest architectural monuments in town, S. Francesco cloister, still protected from the noise of the main street. Two minutes away from the funicular and the enchanting Piazza Vecchia, it is in a strategic position to reach the places of historical and architectural interest such as the Teatro Sociale, Piazza Vecchia and the Palazzo della Ragione, and St. Augustin church , to name but a few.
You will be lodged in a mansion house dating back to the XIV and XVI centuries. Walking through a marvellous old original wooden gate, you will gain access to the privacy of an interior courtyard with a portico, a central well, a wrought iron balcony and a blown glass door. The palace has belonged for generations to one family that take pains and devote resources to the upkeep of the building. A marvellous stately stairway of stone and wrought iron, ceiling fresco, period furniture, a beam ceilings and an unparalleled view over S. Vigilio Hill.

This flat was superbly appointed and a perfect haven from the hustle and bustle of the Citta Alta.The location, in Via Solata, only steps from Via Gombito, is ideal and the views from the rooftop area and the bedroom are stunning.Alessandra was the perfect host, with excellent communications throughout with the check in process being very straightforward. She also gave us excellent recommendations, including a visit to the Palazzo Moroni and a restaurant in San Vigilio.

Perfectly located apartment in a beautiful palazzo. Very comfortable with lovely period furnishings. Alessandra who lives in the building was very helpful and welcoming. An added bonus was the sun terrace where we enjoyed breakfast, and an aperitif each evening. We will be back!

Characterful flat on top floor of a palazzo situated in a quiet area but not far from the centre of Città Alta. A lovely apartment well located in the heart of Bergamo Alto. There was everything in the apartment we needed for a wonderful week. Bergamo is charming. Paula who welcomed us was very friendly and showed us around the apartment and explained how everything worked. We had 2 lovely conversations with Alessandra. Thank you for the suggestions of where to go and eat. Staying in Il Chiostro has been so restorative. Thank you for the hospitality. Bergamo is a wonderful place to holiday.

This was a great place to stay in Bergamo. It's in a convenient location in Citta Alta, but just slightly off the main thoroughfare so it felt like an oasis of calm. It's part of a historical palazzo, and the decor follows suit.The kitchen is quite well equipped, albeit with some slightly chaotic aspects. There is a roof terrace accessed via (fairly steep) stairs, lovely for an aperitivo on a sunny evening. The bed is confortable. Communication with the host was first class, and she helped us arrange a driver to pick us up from the airport - which worked well. She also recommended a couple of excellent restaurants (Il Circolino a particular highlight). Highly recommended - we hope to be back!

We returned to Bergamo in early December to watch the holiday season arrive in Citta Alta. As this was our fourth stay at 10 via Solata, it was a “coming home” experience. Once again, the Bisetti’s were wonderful hosts, the apartment had improvements, and as always, fresh, clean, comfortable, and welcoming. We appreciate the central location in this old city, being able to walk to several museums, and lots of restaurants, and the funicular to the lower city is very close by. We also appreciate the deep history of this city and the well-preserved building the Bisetti’s call home. Thanks for a wonderful visit and we look forward to returning.

Lovely place in old palazzo on quiet street. Very nicely equipped kitchen. Two big beds...one in a bedroom, the other a fold out couch in the living room. Unfortunately we were there during a heat streak...apt on top floor and even with closing shutters etc to sun, it got over 90 F in afternoons into evening, but host supplied additional fan when asked. Prime location in Citta Alta but completely free of the noise and hustle of the main street. Everything is walkable including the funicolare down into the new town. The apartment is the type of place that you can spend a lot of time in - so comfortable, light and airy.

I had a fantastic time staying here! What stood out most is that this has been a guest house for a long time—at least ten years in the guest book—and so it is extremely well equipped, especially in the kitchen. I was solo but a couple or small family would be very comfortable here for an extended stay. The location is unbeatable. Alessandra was very thorough in checking me in, taking a lot of time to give me recommendations about what to see and how to book travel back to Milan. She lives right downstairs and was available on WhatsApp if anything came up. The roof is incredible. The historic palazzo is really cool. A perk for me as an eco-conscious person was that there is compost and recycling so you can travel with minimal waste. I will stay here again when I come back to Bergamo!

What a beautiful, comfortable place to stay in Citta Alta! The apartment is part of the top/ (third) floor of a gracious palazzo near Mercato del Fieno, a two-minute walk from shops and the walkway around the walls. The bedroom has an incredible view out across the town, as does the roof-top deck (accessible only from this apartment). There is plenty of space, a well-appointed kitchen, and a splendid host, who was friendly and helpful and got us a reservation in one of the only parking garages in Citta Alta -- right around the corner! We'll be back! (one note: there is no elevator. wasn't an issue for us, but might be for others).

Paolo and Alessandra were perfect hosts and always on hand with good advice and information. Their charming apartment is on the top floor of a listed building. There are beautiful views from every window. It is very quiet and has comfortable furnishings and a well equipped kitchen. It was especially useful to get our laundry done. The Citta Alta is an amazing town to discover cathedrals, galleries, museums, shops and great restaurants, not to forget about the bells which add to the Renaissance flavour.

if you're looking for a touch of grandeur that is also very well equipped and nicely furnished and yet within a stone's throw of all Bergamo's principal attractions then this is for you. We loved the place. It was all we could have hoped for, except perhaps the lack of AC as temperatures soared . The large fan did its best. Thanks to Alessandra and Paolo for painstakingly talking us through the handover. They really are the most caring and helpful hosts.

We loved our stay in Bergamo. The apartment was exactly as advertised, very quiet and comfortable and in a great location in Citta Alta. Although we didn't use it, the kitchen was well equipped. The flat is in a great location in Citta Alta and was very clean. It is located within Citta Alta, so arranging for vehicle parking is helpful. The location is close enough to walk to all of the sights of the upper city, without experiencing any of the noise from the main street. The host was also very responsive and helpful.

Alessandra and her family were the most wonderful hosts. The apartment was stunning, even more beautiful than the pictures. I can’t even begin to describe how incredible the building was- from the lovely courtyard to the painted ceiling- truly exquisite! We were literally transported to authentic Italy- living in the old city of Bergamo. Alessandra was so kind and helpful and gave us so many great suggestions of places to visit, restaurants to eat etc. We did not want this holiday to end... and we hope to return again one day- Thankyou so much Alessandra and family for such a memorable stay in your stunning apartment!

What a magical place this is, it would be far too easy to rush past this pearl of a place and go directly to Milan. We almost did that and would have missed out on a great weekend experience. Yes we were blessed with fantastic weather but even it had been an overcast weekend the upper town of Bergamo would still shine. Easy of finding the apartment, correspondence, meeting the owner and even the owners son were all excellent, could not have been a better experience. I really do feel that whatever your interest is Citta Alta has it all, from breathtaking buildings (when you step inside some of the churches they really do take your breathe away), locally sourced food and wines served in excellent restaurants to cater for all budgets to unique transport links! It does have it all. We will certainly be back and for a longer stay this time. The apartment has a fantastic location and has everything that you should need. The outside space is a bonus as I guess not many old buildings can offer such, if I was being really picky it was disappointing that you could not see the entire magical views when seated outside. But no real hardship and I can understand due to the physical nature of the building why it is so. This certainly did not impinge on our enjoyment of the apartment nor the town, they were both fantastic, they complimented each other. Although I should not really be telling anyone about this as would rather keep it ourselves!!!!!

First visit for us to Bergamo. Rainy and foggy, but it didn’t matter. This place is amazing. And we would never want to stay anywhere else. Alessandra’s apartment is more than perfect. Beautiful, charming, comfortable and the best location. Fabulous views, spacious, everything you could want. We made one dinner at “home” so we could enjoy the apartment as much as possible. Alessandra and her son Alberto are so gracious, hospitable, and went out of their way to make our all too brief stay perfect. Very nearby restaurants were delicious and delightful. Grazie mille!!!

This was our 3rd time in Bergamo - we love the town, especially citra alta. The highlights of this apartment are the location, views from the rooftop deck, and helpful owner. The apartment itself is simple, but was all that we needed for our 3 nights. Note that the apartment is on the 3rd floor with no lift, and the rooftop deck is up a small, steep flight of stairs. No problem for us, but those with mobility issues may be challenged. Also, the bed is very firm/hard. Not the most comfortable, but ok for a couple nights. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!

I have stayed in this flat before and chose to return because I loved the house and the town so much the first time. Arriving by the funicular (which is handily close by) feels like entering a different world. The owner is cheerful and helpful, and the flat is within a beautiful grand palazzo and yet has all the comforts of a homely place. It is great to be on the top floor overlooking the town and the hills beyond, and on what feels like a level with all the bells which sound morning and night. Bergamo offers so much, from art and history to beautiful landscape which is easily accessible by foot from town. Cobbled paths go all over the hillside and there is a wonderful outdoor bar on Via Virgilio with views for miles. There are some excellent places to eat - avoiding some of those right in the centre - but best of all we enjoyed eating in the flat which has a memorable little roof terrace. Should you want to, the bus and train services are a useful way to venture further afield though we have always found plenty to do in Bergamo itself and have been loathe to leave it. It is a special place.

Bergamo is a lovely city and there is no better way to experience Citta Alta then staying in once was an 18th century palazzo up a quiet street very near to the funicular that takes you to Citta Bassa. The apartment is on the 2nd floor - no lift - and has a large living room, kitchen with just about anything you need including a washer. The bedroom is large with plenty of closet space & drawers. The bathroom is fine. The owner, Alessandra, is very helpful and lives in the same building. Do note that their is no air conditioning, however, there is a lovely cross breeze from the windows. Also note that Bergamo churches love to ring their bells. And at 10PM every evening the bells ring 100 times - a centuries old tradition. We stayed three nights and decided at the last moment to take the 45 minute bus ride to Lake Iseo and we were glad we did. Don't miss the Accademia Carrara gallery art museum. Note that the taxi from the train station is Euro 10 and if you have luggage you don't want to have to deal with a bus to the funicular then the two block walk up a river rock road! Bergamo is a fabulous city and this property is an excellent choice to feel like a local!

This is my first stay in this apartment, although not my first stay with Alessandra. A special treat in this apt., was the novelty of sitting on the refurbished roof deck with a glass of vino, listening to the church bells and enjoying the views.I enjoy her hospitality and beautiful historic building so much that I return on my frequent trips to Italy. And Citta Alta feels like I am going home, my heart is sad when I depart.

I cannot speak highly enough of this property. The flat is at the top of a beautiful old building, accessed off a quiet cobbled street and a massive gate. From the bedroom window is a view across the old town and the hills and mountains beyond, and there is even a roof terrace. Each morning we were woken by the bells of the town. The flat is minimally and tastefully furnished and has a comfortable, homely feel. There is a powerful shower which sounds like a vespa scooter, and lovely old furniture. The owner Alessandra was really helpful and easy to get hold of but also I liked the fact that she let us be. Bergamo itself is a fascinating place. We stayed for nine nights in December and there was no shortage of things to do, As well as exploring the town we particularly loved the amazing walks out into the hills, all along little roads and endless cobbled paths and steps, with beautiful views across the plain and to the mountains. I had not taken my 'proper' walking boots so these walkways were ideal. We were very sad to leave and would love to go back some time.

our host Alessandra was all you could ask for at this amazing flat. RIght in the heart of Citta Alta the roof deck is spellbinding with 360 degree views of the city. Our host guided us to some amazing Italian food and sights to see. The flat was amazing and has been in her husbands family for 100 years and clean and comfortable as it gets. The apartment is located just meters from the very center of the historical area of Bergamo, but on a quiet street but with very easy access to restaurants and its pretty commercial streets. It is situated on the top floor of a historical building with a very nice entrance as shown in the various pictures. The apartment is very comfortable, with a fully furnished living room/dining room area, equipped kitchen, bathrooms and master bedroom of good proportions. For those driving, non resident parking is not allowed in the historical center of Bergamo, except for a limited time to load/unload suitcases. However long-term free parking is available some distance away. On a one very positive note, the owners were extremely helpful in getting us settled, and communication with them was nothing short off excellent. I would most certainly recommend this apartment to those that want to stay in the beautiful center of Bergamo's Citta Alta.

A brilliant property in the heart of Bergamo

This apartment is absolutely perfect and fully deserves a five star rating. It is a large and very comfortable apartment with a full kitchen including a washing machine and dishwasher. The view from the bedroom window over the rooftops is mesmerizing. It is a cool, quiet oasis in the middle of town. Bergamo itself is one of the most picturesque towns in Northern Italy with some great restaurants and shops. We spent four days here and were sad to leave. Allesendra is a joy to meet with an infectious laugh and nothing is too much trouble for her guests.
