Its award winner architect has come up with a design, for a luxury, yet easy-going, country home that combines traditional elements, (like wide stone walls, exposed wooden beams), with modern ones (like folding glass panels, interior light wells, lookout decks at each floor) to offer residents the sense of being secure and cozy, while open to enjoy the panoramic views and the docile Cretan climate – the best there is! Standing on its 2000 m2 of olive groves, with 12 x 3,5 m private pool, the villa is located at an idyllic countryside spot of Nea Kydonia, from where it’s just 10 min drive to Chania town, and 800 m to Kalamaki’ sea, with many sandy beaches nearby. What previous guests have loved most was the feeling of spaciousness, the communication and free lines of vision that the light wells allowed, the opportunity to enjoy being outdoors at the patio, the dinning terrace and the pool, the décor’s equilibrium of earthly colours and materials with aluminium and modern fitting.
Accessible features:: Step free entrance to main floor. Wide entrance doors, all doors 75-90 cm wide, Bedrooms with room to manoeuvre. Twin beds can be made 45 cm high. A cargo lift (80cm X 110cm) gives access to all floors, but it's permitted to be used only to facilitate guests with mobility problems at theirs or their guardians' responsibility. There are two accessible bathrooms. One in the main floor with accessible sink, 45cm high toilette and accessed by a ramp 0-12 cm high. Its bath-lid is 53cm high and it has a portable bath seat. Altenatively can be used as a shower room. And one in the ground floor (roll in shawer), 45cm high toilette, gripping bars, adjustable shower-height.; All entrances are step free. We stayed for 2 weeks in August. The villa is beautiful, so much space for our party of 2 families (10 people)There are good beaches within walking distance, you can surf at a beach just 15 mins walk. Ideally you should rent a car for the villa as there is so much to see and do in Crete but it isn’t essential.We had teenagers in our group and they were able to visit the beach and shops separately. The villa is just off a busy road but you can cross over either just up or just down from the villa and walk on much safer roads.We also visited Galatas several times on foot (inland) and had wonderful meals.Kostas was very accommodating and always available for any minor issues we had.It was a perfect trip, thank you Kostas!

Lovely property with plenty of space for our two families. Watching sunsets from the terrace was a particular highlight. Kostas was so kind and welcoming, gave us some really helpful tips about the area and what to explore and was always available to answer our queries.

We were a mixed group of 10 people with an age range from 06 months to 71 years old. The villa lent itself perfectly to our group. The downstairs is almost like a separate flat with lots space and a variety of beds plus lots of toys etc for the children. There is also direct access to the garden. The rest of our party was spread around the ground and first floors. The villa is very well appointed and we were all extremely comfortable. There were at least 5 different outside sitting places which we used according to time of day, where the sun was, who was around etc. It was a 10 minute walk to the sea from the villa and then another 5 minutes along the coast road to the beach. We had a choice of 5 beaches which were all walkable from the villa and many restaurants and shops. Bit difficult with a pushchair though as the climb back up the hill to the villa would be a bit tiring and hot with small children. I recommend Balos Beach (without small children) but if you go please go early. Absolutely stunning. We left the villa at 07.30 and were parked by 08.45. There is then a 2km walk to the beach but it is worth it. We left at 11.00am and met hoards of people arriving. Some had to park 5km before the main car park as the beach became so busy. That means a 7km walk to the beach which is too far! I would suggest getting there early or dont go at all. Samaria was closed on the day our group (without children) wanted to walk it but we walked the Irini Gorge and did a few other walks out of the book. Kostas was very helpful with the few queries we had and I can thoroughly recommend staying at Villa Catani.
