About this house rental

Be prepared to have your most extraordinary New York experience in this magnificent, luxuious townhouse in the Historic East Village! What once was one of the city's last tenement Shuls is now an impeccably-redesigned landmarked building, artfully transformed in 2005 by world-famous designers from the Ian Shrager Hotels. Featured in Architectural Record and other press, and enjoyed by the likes of entertainment figures, athletes, rock stars, executives and politicians, this absolutely exquisite 3/4 bedroom, 2.5 bath fourplex is a rare and coveted gem.

Elegance, top to bottom. Everything you desire for your luxury stay awaits, from 3 wonderful outdoor terraces including a landscaped rooftop deck, a hot tub, steam room and wine storage to the most advanced automated central audio/visual, lighting, HVAC and integrated security systems. This work-of-art residence is bathed in natural light and beautified by so many special high-end touches such as Brazilian hardwood cherry floors, hand-poured Brazilian glass mosaic tiles by Vidrotil, rich Wenge wood paneling, radiant floor heating, floor-to-ceiling steel cased windows and doors, the list goes on. One of the especially unique features are the custom-made windows that are exact replicas from when the building was a synagogue (including the Star of David!)

Seamless entertaining. The living/entertaining space is a dream, distinguished by 22' cathedral ceilings, floor-to-ceiling walls of restored and repointed exposed brick (east) and Wenge wood paneling (west), and a Cantilever balcony with a built-in projector for showcasing art. The awe-inspiring open chef's kitchen off the living area is adorned with floor-to-ceiling custom-built Wenge cabinets, Italian granite counters, 20' island, Thermador double ovens and separate cook top with grill, Sub-Zero main refrigerator plus 2 extra fridges in the island, Bosch dishwasher and separate Fisher Paykel double-drawer dishwasher, built-in temperature/humidity-controlled wine cooler. Off the elegant dining area with the original restored 19th Century backlit Star of David sits a rear dining terrace beyond a wall of glass and steel windows and doors.

A relaxing retreat. Located on the 3rd level is a gorgeous library with custom-built floor-to-ceiling Wenge wood bookshelves, an Italian marble fireplace and a wet sink/wet bar with plumbing, along with 2 comfortable guest bedrooms with custom wall-size closets and built-in stereo speakers. Perched on the 4th story is a lovely floor-to-ceiling glass hallway, and secluded master bedroom with a custom working fireplace, huge walk-in closet, and opulent en-suite bath with an oversized Jacuzzi tub, walk-in shower with steam unit, rain shower, waterfall and separate hand-held shower. The private Zen master terrace offers a hot tub for 8. Glass stairs lead to the sun-drenched top-floor lounge/media room (or 4th BR), and terrace with Ipe wood floors and planters, copper rainspouts, a custom sound system and security cameras. 3235 interior sf and 982 exterior sf. Live-in caretaker and housekeeper provided on-site in separate apartment.

I love Martin the owner! I have rented several properties on homeaway.com, and this is by far the best home we ever rented! The house is clean, Modern, and every room is just amazing! The layout is perfect for groups, and its a great place for families! The design, the location, the owner, and the Kitchen is everything you could want in the perfect NYC stay!
10.0 / 10.0Outstanding·Oct 2018
The townhouse offered more than enough room and luxurious comforts for our group of four. Although we ate pretty much every meal out (there are many good walking-distance dining options nearby), the kitchen provides plenty of prep and spread-out space. Baths are first rate and beds very comfortable. We enjoyed the neighborhood, which provided lots to see while walking around, but was calm and peaceful in the evenings. Martin, Anton, and Rosa were a pleasure to work with; we’d gladly return!
5.0 / 10.0·Jul 2018
Martin and Anton both were easy to work with- the house was great for our group of 10. The location was great, a little far from subway station but not bad at all (10-15 min walk). We have stayed in midtown but wanted a neighborhood feel and this was exactly that. We felt safe with teenage girls walking around alone. Great restaurants in the area. Overall this provided us a great “home base” for our time in NYC. If you are looking at this property- JUST DO IT!
