Beautiful chalet on the slopes in Saint Gervais

Ski-in ski-out is wonderful. The chalet as well, a lot of space. The fireplace worked very well and there was more than enough room for everybody on the couch in front of it. The kitchen is a bit of a challenge - not very practical - , but more than enough pots and pans. And a nespresso-machine! And working wifi! Make sure you do your shopping when the lifts are still running, otherwise it is a quite a walk. This is a very nice house for a family-holiday or friends who are in themselves enough company, apart from one place high on the slopes that shuts down at 4.30 there is no apres-ski. The chalet is very spacey and comfortable and the views are lovely. I would recommend it!

We stayed here for a long weekend in early Feb '17 having been attracted mainly by St Gervais' close proximity to Geneva airport (just a 1 hour transfer time) and also by the chalets secluded location. We were not disappointed on either score! The chalet is about 200 m above the little hamlet of Le Bettex where you'll find a few restaurants, two mini-markets, ski hire shops and the telecabine up to the main ski areas. If you want noisy nightlife this is certainly not the place for you but if, like us, you want some peace and quiet away from everyone else with stunning views of Mont Blanc and a self-catering chalet with by far the biggest communal living areas we have ever enjoyed (and we have visited many) then you will love this place. It couldn't be more truly 'ski in, ski out' as it is right next to an easy slope down to Le Bettex and also just 20m from a button lift route. So getting back to it anytime is a doddle. There is no road to the chalet and so arrival and departure is by way of skimobile transfer arranged by the owners. They are absolutely charming and couldn't be more helpful both in advance and during your stay. They also run a mountain restaurant on the slopes just a few hundred yards from the chalet which we regularly visited for some great food and drinks. Bear in mind that as access is limited to either a brisk 15 minute walk up or by arrangement by skimobile before 9am or after 5.30pm, you will need to factor this in to your plans for shopping etc. Isabelle very kindly did some shopping for us prior to our arrival and again arranged to collect our bags from Le Bettex after our main shopping trip to bring it up to the chalet during our stay. The mini-markets in Le Bettex aren't huge but were fine for everything we needed for good but simple cooking. We loved the place so much that we ate in every night (a stiff G&T on the patio looking out to Mont Blanc at sunset or inside by the wood fire in the very large open plan living area every evening was too tempting to want us to leave!) but it would be easy enough to walk down to a restaurant in Le Bettex if you wanted and didn't mind a brisk night time walk back up afterwards. The skiing is of course less extensive and challenging as you would find in The Three Valleys etc (and not as high so snow conditions can be more variable) but still plenty to explore and keep you busy. We enjoyed our stay so much that we went back for a repeat trip just a month later! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
