Villa Empat Puluh Dua

Our stay at this Balinese-style mansion was absolutely magical. It truly felt like having a private resort all to ourselves. The villa is stunning, peaceful, and beautifully designed, with each bedroom featuring its own bathroom and incredibly comfortable beds. The views over Port Douglas town and beach were breathtaking, and we spent most of our time enjoying the infinity pool that overlooked it all. Alia, the owner, was wonderfully responsive and accommodating, allowing us both an early check-in and a late departure. She made everything feel effortless. Megan, who works with the owners, was equally amazing, as she welcomed us with a grand tour, helped with our luggage and shopping, and was always quick to assist with any questions. She even returned to help us with our luggage to the shuttle bus, which was such a thoughtful touch. When one of the fridges wasn’t working properly, Megan immediately arranged help, having someone else in their team bring ice and an esky, while Alia had an electrician there first thing in the morning. Nothing was ever a hassle, and every issue was handled with care and efficiency. Our group of nine had no complaints at all, in fact, we didn’t want to leave! The combination of the beautiful villa, the incredible views, and the attentive hosts made this an unforgettable experience. We will definitely be back!!

We absolutely loved the view from the property as it was stunning and made our stay feel special. One thing to note is that the road leading up to the house is quite steep, and because there’s no turning circle, shuttle buses aren’t able to access it directly. This wasn’t a major issue for us, as the garage is spacious enough for two vehicles, and most of our group was fit enough to walk up and down. The walk to town is less than 10 minutes, so it’s very manageable, but guests should be aware that having a car makes things much easier.

Fabulous view and plenty of room for everyone. Loved that each room has its own ensuite. The master bedroom was amazing- lovely to wake up to the amazing view in the morning.

There are a lot of stairs. Wouldn’t be great for little ones or anyone less mobile. Fridge not cold enough - drinks in overnight were not really cold the next day.

The pool chlorine was extremely strong and had an overpowering smell. All of our swim suits were left bleached and most of us had red eyes and flared up skin every time we went in the pool, so we ended up not using it.

Location is incredible and with its beautiful Balinese timber construction provides stylish and luxurious comfort

Some minor things need fixing ie leaking gutters etc but overall it’s a fantastic stay
