A hidden gem on Nusa Penida

Wonderful stay with a sweet family and close to the beach!!

I had a wonderful stay at Kubu Artha!! The room was spacious, as was the restroom. The breakfast was great. The property is about a 5 minute walk to the beach. The couple who owns the property are wonderful!! Gede was sooo nice!! He helped me find a snorkeling tour, he took me there on his scooter (no charge). On the day I had to leave, he drove me to the port, at no charge!! I felt so grateful to stay with him and his wife. Also, his wife showed me how they open a coconut and I was then able to drink it. Overall, I had such a nice stay at their home. I would come back and recommend others to stay with them.

The lack of lighting in the room and the key getting stuck in the door.

Real Balinese cultural experience

The host was an amazing guy, and his family were experts in hospitality. They made us breakfast, lunch and diner for a good price. The host explains lots of things about the culture if you are interested. He even brought us to a traditional ceremony together with his son. The accommodation itself was clean, and you can really find yourself in peace here. That is if you like to be in nature. In the night, you will hear animals (birds and geckos), and the roof can be quite noisy. Also, there are lots of insects outside, and we encountered a spider in the bathroom. This was a very fun experience for us, and we would recommend this to anyone.

bit remote, in nature

really close to nature, almost in the jungle, very calm and quiet. friendly host, delicious banana pancake and pineapple juice fresh from their garden. room was clean and spacious, ac working well.

the location is ok if you have a motorbike, not comfortable for walking or even with car. there was no furniture to put on bags or clother, no hanger, this should be added for comfort.

okay place

in a wood/ jungle, in the morning you feel like you live in forest with nature / birds sound. close to main road. with some walk( probably not idea to walk alone at night even though its short walk)

room lighting is too dark, no really sound proof as we can hear neighbour snoring even its one meter far from us. breakfast is basic but considering the price is fine.

Kubu Artha is a wonderful place. The bungalows are very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was very large and sometimes there was warm water. But who needs warm water with these temperatures... The room is cleaned daily and the wonderful owners are kind enough to leave fresh mangos and coconuts in the room. At night the place is quiet despite it being close to an area with shops, restaurants and supermarkets. Also the wifi is really good and fast. The location for me was perfect. Not too far from the port and close to the beach and relaxed beach clubs. I rented a scooter to explored the rest of the island. Kubu Artha can help arranging everything and the communication is friendly and fast. Initially I booked for 5 nights, but ended up staying 12 nights. So highly recommended from my side. Excellent value for money and I would definitely book again.

I made a small suggestion to Gede the owner and that is to eventually look into putting a small fridge in the room. It would be great to be able to cool some water / beers / soda's or melt sensitive candies ;). However I understand this cannot be realised easily and it would definitely NOT be a deal breaker for me to return to lovely Kubu Artha. And if you want stuff cooled then Gede offers to use a general fridge which he has on the premises.

Lovely host, nice peaceful location and a lovely room. The morning prayers from the islands Mosque was very quiet and not blaring so wouldn't wake most people. Good shower, bike storage and the host has plenty of options for bike rentals, ferries to Gilli etc.

Nothing, it was all great. If I had any suggestions I would suggest a mosquito net for the bed.

Thank you to Gede and his family for being such wonderful hosts! I really appreciated how helpful Gede was - I was traveling light so he kindly picked me up and dropped me off at the harbor on his scooter when I arrived and departed. The bungalow was big and clean (good aircon plus hot water in the shower!), and the main road with beachfront restaurants was a 5min walk away through a small forest (no lights at night, so bring a flashlight!). Breakfast was served directly to my bungalow each morning, which was really convenient.

The room was spacious and close to everything! Gede and Madi were incredible hosts. They took care of our laundry, helped us with the bikes and directions around the island. Always smiling and ready to help, they made our stay extra special:D

Gede is a great host, very helpful. He was always there to help. Whether that be to book snorkeling or a taxi. The room is very nice, exactly as described. The location is very close to the beach with some beach clubs and restaurants.

3-4 minute walk through a wooded area to the beach and restaurants. This area is unlit at night so a torch is needed. There are some free dogs in this area but we had no problems with them at all and found them to be quite friendly.

Clean and spacious bungalows in great location

Hosts arranged washing for us as well as travel. They are very kind and friendly and made sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay. We loved the location - close to the beach with a shop nearby and lots of cafés etc along the beach road. We did the short walk into town along the beach a few times.

If you came here too see the island you will like the place! Beautiful tropical garden! Very nice English speeking stuff who are online for all your questions on booking.com chat! The houses are nice outside and simple, but clean inside. For this price it is very nice! The bed is comfortable.

Would be great to have a bottle of water when you arrive and a wardrobe in each house (something simple and small). Not enough light in the room, but you shouldn't have time to read at night).

Amazingly nice big rooms

The rooms were fantastic (ac in all rooms) and the rooms were really big. The garden was beautiful and we could rent scooters from the owner. All in all very accommodating.

The breakfast was not very special, just some pancakes and juice. And the location of the hotel was a bit far from decent restaurants and other places to buy food.

Awesome hosts which are very friendly and helpfully in everery Situation. They helped us a lot (get us a cheap ferry Ticket, came with us to the harbour, rent cheap scooter there,) He even brought us shoes to the habour which we forgot in the bungalow! His English is really good. The rooms are clean and the beds confortable. Its a really nice and green garden. We would love to go there again:)

He is very available and kind, He do everything for you, more than a simple host.The bungalow is very nice, clean and the localisation is perfect, near to the good restaurant and with a funny road with cow and pork. Lovely stay

We had such a great experience at Kubu Artha. The beds were super comfortable and room spacious and clean. The garden is lovely and peaceful - you will definitely feel well rested here! I unfortunately fell ill with food poisoning and the owner Gede went above and beyond to check in on me bringing me fresh coconuts and guava from their trees. Such a good man!

Place is beautiful, surrounded by nature. Gede is a great host, always ready to help us when we needed. We booked with him a snorkeling tour and our boat ticket, he gave us a good price and also drove us at pick up point. Breakfast made every morning for us was also very good. Gede and his family are the most welcoming and warm hosts. They will look after you and make sure you have the best stay. The tour they offers are the cheapest around, and you have the beach 3 minutes away. Totally recommend

Experience was a nice peaceful reprieve from the city bustle. Host was kind, honest, and helpful.

I can’t say anything

The room was quite dirty when I first arrived, it looked like it was not used for a while with dust on the surfaces and black small dirt on bed sheets. There was no handwash in the bathroom, the toiletpaper was all soaked wet… I asked for a handwash and they gave me an almost empty bottle. Since the first day I was quite tired I had to be okay with it and slept there. Second day I went out and when I came back I realised they entered my room and they took away the handwash. On top of that, I found a cockroach and that was it, I had to leave immediately and find another hotel which costed me quite a lot. Overall a very bad stay, stay away.

Beautiful family run bungalows. Gede and his wife were such a lovely couple. Gede picked me up and dropped me off at the harbour as part of the booking. Always stopped for a chat. Messaged me each night asking what time for breakfast. I had the most delicious banana pancakes and fresh juice. Whatever was in the garden. All delivered to my room. Simple room but clean and the bed and pillows were so comfortable! Bed was big too. Aircon worked great and an automatic air freshener was a nice touch. Hired me a scooter and can book tours for you if you like. Able to recommend massages etc. I highly recommend to stay here. Cost hardly anything. Such a lovely experience and I will be staying here next time I'm in Penida. Thank you Gede for a wonderful stay.
