About this farm stay rental

The Farmhouse has a modern spacious eat-in kitchen which boasts a typical Irish peat / log burning solid fuel stove which creates a tranquil cosy atmosphere and simultaneously heats the other rooms also. From the kitchen and bedrooms located on the upper floor you can enjoy breath taking views of Ballinskelligs Bay and on a clear day the 'Statue of Liberty' in New York might be possible if you could see far enough.
The heating system incorporates oil and solid fuel which is designed to work simultaneously or one system at a time.
There is a spacious hot press which can be used for airing / storing additional clothing. The benefits of a stone constructed house are that on a warm sunny summers day the house is cool while in winter the house is much warmer than a block built house.

The County Kerry region: The warm influence of the Gulf Stream which passes off the coast has a very positive and pleasant effect on our climate all year round and is home to a sub -tropical vegetation. We never get extremes in temperature either in winter or summer which makes it a very pleasant part of the country to live in.
There are numerous places of both historical and scenic locations to visit in the area.
Daniel O Connell's house in Derrynane, stone fort's, old castle's, Skellig's Rock, Killarney National Park & Muckross House, Arts Centre 'Cill Rialaig,' and Crag Cave Castleisland are just some of the big attractions in the area.
The biggest attraction of all being the breathtaking views from the famous 'Ring of Kerry' which is renowned for its beauty and rugged landscape. It is a natural wonderland of forest, blanket bog, river, lake, sandy beach and hill, including Ireland's highest peak, 'Corran Tuathail'.
The world renowned "Skelligs Ring" has been named as one of the best places in the world to visit.
The Kerry landmark has made it into the top ten regions in the world for travellers by Lonely Planet's Best in Travel 2017 guide.
Described in the guide as 'perhaps Ireland's most charismatically wild and emerald stretch of coastline' the 32km Skellig Ring is an extension of the famous Ring of Kerry.
Stretching from Waterville to Ballinskelligs and back around through Portmagee, the coastal gem overlooks Skellig Michael , the ancient monastic island where Star Wars: The Force Awakens was filmed.
Famously, Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley, as Luke Skywalker and Rey appeared on the island in the closing scene of the most recent Star Wars film. Lonely Planet spokeswoman Noirin Hegarty said: The Skelligs Ring should be on every traveller's must-see list.
The Skellig's Ring features tenth on the list of top regions for 2017, which was topped by Choquequirao in Peru; followed by Taranaki in New Zeland; the Azores in Portugal; North Wales and South Australia.
The Dingle Peninsula is also renowned for it's rugged beauty and it was here that the film 'Ryans Daughter' starring Robert Mitchum was made. Slea Head which is located at the far end of the peninsula has some breathtaking scenery to offer.

So what's so special about Kerry? - What sets it apart from other holiday destinations? Well, for a start it has all the essential ingredients; great scenery, genuinely friendly people, lots to do and see, the highest standard of accommodation and numerous first class restaurants. However, it's the things that are unique to Kerry that make it such a popular visitor destination, such as its ancient history, its rich culture, the rare flora and fauna and a genuine pride of place by its people.

This is a beautiful, cozy house with some impressive finishing—especially the staircase—and a situation atop the hill that provides a permanent panorama of the Kerry coastline. Tom is the warmest of hosts and not only explained the house’s workings in detail, but made day-trip recommendations that were highlights of our trip. My only caution is to be wary of the Skellig Chocolate Factory—there are far too many free samples available! Thank you, Tom.

This was a highlight of our time in Ireland. The cottage was truly off the beaten track yet also close to the cute town of Waterville. The views from the property are invigorating. The family enjoyed strolling the local "roads" while I will forever remember the area for some of the best (hilly) runs I have ever had in my life. Tom was so lovely and really made this a very personal experience. Sheep, Skellig Michel, ruins from centuries ago, and amazing beaches. If going to this area, STAY HERE!

The location was perfect. Great views, a lot of places to hike. I can not say enough about our hosts. Our flight was delayed, we did not get to Waterville until almost midnight. The hosts had Coffee, tea and milk for us to have in the morning! Tom came by one day and pulled some potatoes from the garden for us. The house was clean and well equipped for me and my three adult daughters. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms, all perfect. We would absolutely recommend this house! Thank you!!
