About this castle / palace rental
Castello di Montegufoni is an exclusive location to spend wonderful holidays in the heart of Chianti Region.
Dating back to the 12th century and restored in the 17th century by the noble family of Acciaioli, the Castle has a magnificent tower built on the model of the one of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
Montegufoni Castle is part of a large estate comprising vineyards and olive trees and is surrounded by the beautiful Chianti landscape. In the castle there are 39 apartments and a large garden with a nice swimming pool: the perfect spot to relax and have fun with your family and friends.
The Chianti Region is one of the most renowned charming area in Italy for its cultural, historical and enogastronomic traditions. This luxurious Castle offers to our guests incredible holiday experiences (on request) such as cooking lessons, event location, guided tours and more!
Distances from the villa: the small village of Montagnana V.P. with food shops 1 km, Montespertoli with all kinds of shops approx. 5 km, Florence 20 km, Pisa approx. 70 km.
A bus stop with busses to Florence is only a few meters from the castle away. Bikes and scooters for rent are available in Montespertoli.
At guests’ disposal: large and very charming terraced park furnished with garden furniture and table tennis, beautiful Italian gardens (dating back to the 18th century) with lemon trees and swimming-pool (12 x 6 m - open from 01/04 to 31/10). Reception open from 9.00 to 12.30 and from 14.30 to 18.30. The outbuildings of the castle as well were restored and turned into charming apartments. The castle is run by the Posarelli family. A nice restaurant offering nice recipes of the local Chianti tradition is open every night (from April to October except on Tuesdays). Laundry with shared washing-machine (€ 4,- / per washing). WI-FI internet connection available in some apartment, in the reception and restaurant area.
Extra services: on request possibility of renting a baby bed (€ 50,- / per week) and an extra bed (€ 100,- / per week) both payable locally.

Charming apartment recently restored situated in one of the ancient towers of the castle dating back to the 13th century. This apartment is located in a very quiet area and it is provided with an independent entrance and a private share of the garden.
Ground floor: large living-room with stone walls, kitchen corner, dining area and access to the garden and to a veranda furnished for outdoor meals.
A few steps higher: nice bathroom with shower.
1st floor (access via a spiral stone staircase or from the outside): large double bedroom (air conditioning) with access to a small terrace enjoying beautiful views over the surrounding landscape.
This unit does not provide wi-fi internet
The following might be to be paid extra: Babycot, Extra Bed, Heating, Late Arrival, Refundable Security Deposit in cash or by credit card, Tourist tax, Washing Machine.

The castle is incredible and the views are equally as impressive. There is a very nice restaurant on site for breakfast and dinner, and the food and people are lovely. We had a small balcony in our room that provided amazing views of the tuscan hillside from our bed!
The tiered gardens and pool are beautiful and well kept. The only reason we cannot give our stay 5 stars is that we had some trouble with the heat and hot water while staying there. We stayed in March and it gets cold at night. Unfortunately the first night we were there, we had no heat or hot water. The receptionist promptly arrived to our room at 9 AM the next morning with a maintenance man, who was able to fix it temporarily, but it went out again additional times while staying there. I'm sure this is an isolated incident, but it really effected our stay. Again, I want to emphasize how helpful the receptionist and staff were. We would still stay here again. If you want to stay at a really cool 13th century castle with amazing views, this is your place. If you want to stay in a comfortable 5 star hotel, do not stay in a 13th century castle.

July 2014. Had a wonderful time. Staff very helpful. Views fantastic. Seperate restuarant was just right & extremely helpful to small changes to the meal plus wonderful daily hand made pasta dishes. Need a car really - unless happy for pool and walks around about - but such wonderful views as you drive around pity to miss that.
