Serene Retreat Awaits You!

This is our 4th stay at the house. It's always clean, and the hosts are immediately responsive when we've had questions. Kids love the air hockey, we make good use of the long dining table, and we all appreciate the large spaces.

No issues or complaints about the property. It was an ideal location and distance to Great Lakes. Restaurants and shopping close by, about a 40 minute trip to downtown Chicago.

This is a great house in a beautiful neighborhood. My family of five stayed here for four nights while we were visiting for my son’s graduation from Navy bootcamp. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of room for all of us. The house is located about 20 mins from Great Lakes Naval Station which made it convenient for us going back and forth. The owners were very helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had. We enjoyed the fire-pit in the backyard. I would definitely stay here again.

This house is lovely in many ways. Unfortunately, we had several inconvenient issues that made our stay feel like it was not worth the price. We were never able to get either of the tvs to work properly. The upstairs one didn’t come on at all. It was plugged in. The downstairs one only showed a single channel. No ability to watch Netflix or YouTube as described. We communicated with the property contacts but they did not resolve the problem for us. I expected someone to come over and figure out what was wrong and fix it. That didn’t happen. The grill did not work well enough to use and it was not clean. The house is not really suitable for people with mobility issues or the very elderly given the steps down, which are not clearly marked, and the steps to the basement that have no railing. I think it would be good to mention that in the listing. There were no hand towels in the bathrooms when we arrived. Seems a simple touch to let people know they were expected. Yes they were in the linen closet but we didn’t realize until our hands were wet and we were looking around the bathroom for them. Also, there are no outlets in the bathrooms, which we found a very odd setup given various electrical items one typically uses in a bathroom. Finally it took us a while to control the temperature, which was frustrating. There are many wonderful things about this house. Loved the beds, nice sized rooms, the wonderful yellow reading room, patio furniture, nice kitchen and dining area. But given the issues and the price, we would not book this place again.
