About this villa rental
Welcome to Villa Koumos, a spacious three-bedroom villa for up to six guests, set above the traditional village of Gavalochori. With panoramic views across the White Mountains, Cretan countryside and Souda Bay, it offers privacy, space and an excellent location for exploring western Crete.
The villa has three generously sized, air-conditioned bedrooms, each opening onto its own terrace or patio, and two modern bathrooms, including one en suite. The bright, open-plan living area is also air-conditioned and includes comfortable seating, a Smart TV, an indoor dining area and a fully equipped kitchen.
Outside, the extra-large private heated pool takes centre stage. Gated for added reassurance when staying with children, it is surrounded by attractive gardens filled with flowers, trees and Mediterranean planting. Several outdoor seating and dining areas provide plenty of choice for sunny breakfasts, relaxed afternoons and evenings under the Cretan sky.
Villa Koumos enjoys a peaceful, elevated setting, yet Gavalochori’s village centre—with its traditional tavernas, cafés and local shops—is approximately 700 metres away. Beautiful beaches, walking routes, historic sites, watersports and boat trips are all within easy reach.

Wonderful stay at Villa Kouros. Very well equipped and maintained. Very comprehensive information booklet/file with everything from washing machine instructions to local taverna recommendations. A short 5-10 minute walk down to the village square where we enjoyed a first night dinner and several breakfasts. Village locals very friendly and welcoming. Location ideal for us. 7 minute drive to Almyrida and 10 minutes to Kalyves. Easy drive to Chania and also travelled a little further to Kissamos to get a boat to Balos lagoon which was a great day excursion. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Would definitely recommend to others!

We had a lovely holiday in this beautiful, well equipped villa. The views of both sea and mountains are spectacular from the terraces, and the area is very quiet and peaceful. John was super helpful in providing details of good places to eat in the local area - all of which we tried and weren't disappointed! The beaches are all good, with the closest one a short 10 minute drive away. Would definitely recommend this villa for a great holiday.

Well maintained villa and a very helpful maintenance man who ensures that everything in the villa and outside areas are kept to a high standard. Beautiful views of the village and surrounding area. We had spectacular thunder storms over the mountain together with wonderful sunsets. All windows and doors have heavy wooden shutters which keep out any village noise during the night, a problem we have had in other countries with dogs barking and cockerels crowing in the small hours of the morning. All in all we have had a brilliant relaxing holiday with a lovely pool to cool off in. The local cat adopted us until it discovered we were not giving it chicken every day and went back to its home. The locals in the village are very friendly and although our Greek is very limited we managed to communicate really well. We would certainly recommend this villa for those who want privacy away from the crowds on the coast.
