Riverbush Lodge Guesthouse

Everything was thought thru..we had almost everything we needed in the room..the environment was calm and peaceful..beautiful garden and plenty sitting areas, providing privacy for all guests.. friendly staff (Neo).. and June helped us with her suggestion of restaurants.. on our 2nd day..we met the lovely host/owner Elize.

This is not a dislike but a suggestion to have small microwave in a room..even though the beautiful kitchen outside had everything we needed..I felt inconvenienced to go out at night to warm my midnight snack..it was scary.

Very nice property, liked the external kitchen and all the braai areas. Nice getaway for a married couple. The bed was amazing. They cleaned daily and were always really helpful. Liked getting the filter coffee daily. The kitchen is also equipped with most things you need (salt, spices, utensils etc).

It can get cold and the aircon didn’t seem to work above 20 degrees. It would also be nice if there were lights above the braais. Another thing, that didn’t really affect us, but I do think it is necessary to remove the picture of the pool from the photos posted about this place as it can be seen as false advertising (why would you add those pics if the pool isn’t available?).

Its beautiful and in a peaceful area just across the vaal river.

That my stay was short

The garden was beautiful, well looked after. The lodge is in front of the river. I liked being able to walk to the river.

We booked the place last minute and stated when booking that we don't know the time we would arrive at the property for check in as we were traveling. So when we got to the property the reception was less than expected. The lady looking after the property in the absence of the owner scolded us for arriving after their check in time of 19:00 when we actually booked after 19:00 as it was and started that we don't know the check in time. We tried telling her that the booking was accepted in spite the time we made it which was already past their 19:00 check in time. We had proof of the booking yet the lady made us feel unwelcome in her manner. Even when we stayed in the property, she would be watching when we drive out of the place fearing us driving over the plants. So these were very uncomfortable. We decided to be patient with the old lady as an elder but I think the owner needs to consider leaving different people to look after the place next time.
