Black Bear Lodge: Lakefront Home on Mascoma Lake

We had an absolutely lovely time. We had trouble with flight delays and owners were super responsive and helpful. The property was gorgeous and comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed to enjoy our getaway. It was truly perfect!

This is a beautiful spot right on the shore of Lake Mascoma. It was clean and spacious with great amenities. The kitchen was so well stocked from plates and glasses to a wide variety of cooking utensils and pots and pans. We’ve already decided we’re returning next year!

It’s really hard not to give this place five stars across the board! When we arrived, there was some kitchen cleanup that we needed to do in order to function in the kitchen. It really was a matter of people not respecting the property. In addition, and it is not the owner’s fault, the lake was really low, so it was a little bit of a challenge for us to use our boat. Next time we just need to watch the rain and it’s affect on boat use. We had a great family vacation! Andy is an excellent host and he is very responsive!

Where do I start?I had the most INCREDIBLE weekend stay here with my family a few weekends ago! Absolutely returning again next year... where do I start?!1. Host Andy was the best! He was hands down the most responsive host I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with. He answered all of my questions and responded WITHIN MINUTES each time. My cousin accidentally left his fishing rod at the house and Andy actually went back to the house twice to look for it and then SHIPPED IT BACK TO HIM. I truly do not have enough praise for Andy.2. THE HOUSE LAYOUT. Amazing. It was perfectly clean, yet modern, spacious, and comfortable without being pretentious-- exactly what I was looking for, but so so SO hard to come by. There was room for all of us, and such that we all had our own space/ bedrooms to retreat in. I loved that the common area between the kitchen and the living room is HUGE with open space, and also connected at the same time. It was perfect for my family who loves to cook and congregate around the kitchen for all meals. We could be together while prepping meals, and also hang out there before, during, and afterward. 3. THE BASEMENT: The hidden gem is without a doubt the basement that was perfect for my teenage cousins, who were able to have their own space. It features a ping pong table (total hit), a TV area with another big living room (and laser tag!!!), and 2 bedrooms with a private bathroom. It also opens directly to the backyard, so basement guests can come in and out as they please.4. THE LAKE. This house comes with a private boat dock, which was incredible! My uncle was able to bring his boat and we fished and had fun in the water all weekend long. There are also amazing bay windows from the living room so that you're able to look out over the lake in the morning with a cup of coffee... one of my favorite memories from the weekend :)5. AMENITIES. The house comes with a grill (we used it, it was great), a fire pit (also used), canoes, paddleboards, fishing poles, a totally stocked kitchen (pots, pans, dinnerware, utensils, even aluminum foil and etc!), plenty of towels, bedding, extra toilet paper... truly anything you might need for a comfortable stay Andy has thought of!10/10 would recommend. Book now, you won't regret it!
