The Rabbit Hole is a secluded, airy cottage perched on a bluff overlooking a quiet cove in Blue Hill Bay. It's located on the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island and has some of the best sunset views around. The living room opens out to the deck through a one-of-a-kind 12-foot sliding glass door, with an ocean view. It has a full kitchen/dining area, and living room, as well as two bedrooms and a loft. A woodsy path leads down to the shoreline and a dock with access to kayaks and rowboats.

The VRBO connections have been wonderful and everyone has expressed their wonder and amazement at our best-kept secret, the cottages on the bay. This family-run property offers quiet respite steps from Acadia National Park. The cottages are kid-friendly and have great decks for sunsets, BBQs, and playing. (Sorry, no pets) The surrounding woods are nature's masterpiece, quintessential Maine. There is lots more we offer, email us for details of Barnacle Landing, on the WESTSIDE of MDI off Tremont Road.
The property is 1500 feet of shoreline and the cove proves to be a great place to explore Maine marine life and geology. Nearby, Pretty Marsh is chock full of places to explore in our kayaks and rowboats. The harbor is home to seals, porpoises, great blue herons, osprey, and frequent eagles. Fishing and crabbing is always a great way to spend your time.
If you like to swim in the ocean, there are ladders at the dock and a gravel beach to wander in and out of the tide. Of course, there are warmer ponds and lakes very nearby, too.
The 40 acres surrounding the cottages are full of woodsy pathways and mossy areas for exploring. There are mussels to collect at low tide and you can steam your lobsters on the deck of your house. And, SUNSET is an amazing feature here on the west side of Mount Desert Island.

Best view from this property! You will want to be back every night to catch the sunset. Great location for accessing Acadia NP as well as Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor.

Property was beautiful and very secluded but can get to all the benefits of the island within 20 minutes. Sheila was great, very friendly and easy to work with.
