Basement, no AC, no living room

We liked the location - far enough away from the city traffic yet close enough to get to areas we wanted to visit. The owner was accommodating (he let us check in early), and the grounds were well kept and attractive.

I have to admit I am to blame for misunderstanding the description of the property. I fell in love with the pictures of the property - the unique architecture, the airy windows, the expansive living room and kitchen. What I failed to understand, however, the "superior suite" was located in the basement of the property. No airy windows, no expansive living room, etc. Instead, we found two bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. While the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, there was no living room at all. Four chairs around the kitchen table were the only seating available for any kind of "relaxation." (The only TV in the unit was located in the kitchen.) The description describes a sofa, but it is located in one of the bedrooms - not conducive to an evening of relaxation for four people. Overall, our accommodations were fine for sleeping for a couple of nights, but I could have found more affordable sleeping rooms elsewhere - even ones with airy windows. Again, it was not the property's fault that we were disappointed in our stay - but don't let the photos in the listing mesmerize you.

Convenient offering of space and amenities like 2 bedrooms and living room, kitchen and washer/dryer. This was very helpful for our family.

The place could be a cleaner. The bathroom smells, the pillow case and sheets had stains.

The bed was comfortable, we had all the machines we needed such as washing machine,dryer,hair dryer.... The neighboorhood is calm and friendly.

Lot of the kitchen equipment were missing. There were only 4 mugs,we had to wash them all the time. People living upstairs were extremely loud during the night and morning. It was a very small place for 4 adults. Finding and entering the appartment was challengeable as we needed to use an app that was not working sometimes. On the day of arrival we tried to reach out to the host unsuccesfully. No reaction to the phone call neither to sms,email. On the last day the host started to talk on the phone in front of our window very loudly at 6 am. After he made noise with selecting the bottles. At 7:30 one of the employees rang the bell and knocked on the door several times just to take our trash while the trash bin were right infront of our appartment. To make it even better he used some kind of loud garden machine and filled up our appartment with fuel smell.

Felt safe, good neighborhood!

Our room was in a basement. Booking.com did not say our room was in the basement. I was not happy about that. Also needs some updating and seems like they are cutting a lot of corners. Sponges in kitchen stunk, used bar of soap in bathroom, no air conditioning!

Each bedroom has its own bathroom and a washer and dryer is supplied.

Be aware the owners kitchen is separated only by a pocket door so you can hear them cooking. The bathroom sink in the master bedroom had a weird sound coming out all night long. We closed the door to block that out. The handle on the kitchen tap was broken and the owner said he would bring a new screw to fix it but that did not happen. The deck had some temporary banquet chairs to sit on so could have been much nicer.

*quick access to highway in both directions (into and out of Vancouver) *quiet location given proximity to main roads and highway *unit was self contained with private entrance and had everything needed (including washer/dryer & dishwasher) *unit accessible with app and no key required for in and out access

*location not easy to access without proper directions (one way, divided roads) *not a lot of natural light given that it is a below ground level unit *bedding and pillows were stained (and one stained pillow not even covered with a pillow case) *overall cleanliness of the unit was decent but closer inspection revealed areas that had been completely overlooked by cleaning team (old kleenexes and much dust) *communication from hosts was less than clear (where to find assigned unit etc.) The Chateau's 'deluxe suite' can best be described as a self contained basement suite with its own private entrance. It contained all of the amenities necessary for a family and was quiet given its proximity to main roads and highway. Not a lot of natural light being that the unit is below ground level. Overall cleanliness of the unit was decent, but bedding and pillows were stained (one badly stained pillow even left on the bed with no pillow case) and evidence of less than stellar cleaning was evident with more thorough inspection. Hosts were less than helpful in the lead up to the start of the booking when an inquiry was made via telephone (no return call as promised) and equally uninterested in engaging once the booking was in progress. Communication was less than clear and it took a phone call upon arrival (from directly outside the front door of the house) to the hosts (inside the house) to get proper directions as to which unit had been assigned to us for the stay. No effort to come out and offer a friendly customer service experience.

Everything was just perfect and beyond expectations. The communication was great, the apartment was very clean and had a wonderful experience. I will recommend it to everyone!

Comfortable and pleasant to live in. Facilities are very complete and location is very convenient. Owner was very helpful with our requests.

Leftover food from previous tenants were left in the fridge. Some were opened and consumed halfway.

The location was quiet and things were clean.

The drain in the bathroom tub does not work properly. I was standing in a little lake by the end of my shower. The clear mat in the tub was dirty on the underside. One packet of coffee would have been good for the first day there as there is a great coffee maker but only instant coffee. There were no face cloths to use for the bathroom.

Very roomy. Comfortable beds. we had a party of 18 ages 6 to 76.

Beautiful house with a lovely modern interior! Spacious and met our needs. The host was super friendly and accommodating as well!

Comfortable bedding and fully equipped 2 bedroom unit. Very clean.

- basement unit - no direct day light - connecting door to the adjacent unit and feeling of no privacy. Fully witnessing conversations on the other side. - Kevo didn’t open our unit door but gave access 2 other occupied units…

The pictures on booking where beautiful, but we were not informed that we would have the basement apartment. This has no windows with outside view and you can hear everything from the apartment above.
