The home is filled with amenities and surrounded by panoramic views of the Appalachian Mountains and the Lost River Valley. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway or a place to spend time with a small group of friends or family, Idlewild will provide the perfect backdrop for your West Virginia escape. Pricing: There is a $50/person/night for groups larger than 4 people. The rate also includes WV Sales Tax, our $125 cleaning fee and the increasing fees VRBO charges for the use of its service.
Each bedroom has its own character with en suite full baths and sliding glass doors to outside decks that overlook stunning vistas and wildlife. Wooden decks wrap around the upper and lower floors, with an enclosed screened-in porch on each level. Adirondack, lounge and rocking chairs surround the house - providing ample room to read, bird watch or relax. While the house is spacious, the upstairs is cozy and perfect for couples looking for a mountain getaway. A modern, fully-equipped, luxury kitchen and gas grill provide the tools for wonderful meals. We have a hot tub located in a covered deck with incredible views! Everything you could want for a memorable retreat!
There is a wood burning fireplace in the great room, firewood provided. In cooler months enjoy the hot tub on the lower, enclosed deck. A firepit/deck in back of property can be enjoyed year round and is a great way to take in the extraordinary stars and invigorating mountain air. We have high speed internet. A music player for CDs and iPods. The house is near some great hikes in the George Washington National Forest and Lost River State Park, and can serve as a hub for either exploring wild and wonderful West Virginia or serving as a retreat for relaxing, meditation and taking in the Lost River Valley's natural beauty.

The host was amazing, answered messages promptly, allowed us to come early and leave late, provided us with a nice bottle of wine. The house was beautiful! I loved the long, vast wrap around porch. The view was amazing. We enjoyed the indoor fireplace, thanks for providing the wood, but the wood should be on the upper deck where the fireplace is, would make it more convenient. The hot tub was nice too. I will say fly traps should be provided on the screened in porch because the flies/bugs just get trapped, die and then dead bugs are all over the floor. The set up was nice, loved the big island in the kitchen, not too many stairs inside which is nice. I will say we weren't aware the silverware was in the drawer in the island, we thought there was literally only 4 forks and no knives. The bed downstairs behind the tv room was very unstable, moved a lot. A couple had to move out of that room and sleep in the blue room instead. I had the Asian inspired room, the bed was nice and comfy but man is the ceiling thin! I could hear everyone walking above me, sounded so loud in my room, like boom bang boom!! I had to make sure to go to bed when others did and wake up with them as well. My shower had dead flies in it so not sure if it was cleaned. The drain didn't drain well in that shower either. The house was very nice and thank you for allowing us to stay there.
