About this house rental
Vila de Baixo is the name of this fabulous Chalet in Arrifana Beach.
Arrifana Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the municipality of Aljezur. It is located in the Algarve, southwest of Portugal and in the Costa Vicentina Natural Park.
This Chalet has been for many years, and remains, our family's favorite vacation spot.
For us, the present keeps alive the extraordinary moments we live here as a family and it was with the future generations in mind that we decided to make a major refurbishment (completed in June 2016) that allowed the Chalet to have exceptional amenities.
Once a small beach house with no water, no electricity, and poor conditions, it has seen generations of fishermen, surfers, poets, and sailors grow.
It is these generations that continue to maintain the soul and original essence of Vila de Baixo:
- the friendship!

Staying at our accommodation means living in perfect harmony with nature in the Natural Park! Because we are located in such a pure environment, it is very common to be visited by the local wildlife. Recently, a few small Vietnamese wild boars have been spotted around here, especially at dusk and during the night.
Important note for your arrival: â ď¸ They have a regular crossing point near our neighbor's house (which is located about 50 meters before reaching our property). Please stay alert when passing by, especially if you are arriving after dark! When walking at night, carry a flashlight and speak loudly without making sudden movements.
They are just looking for food, are completely peaceful, are not predators, and usually avoid humans. However, to ensure a 100% safe stay, we kindly ask you to follow these simple rules:
⢠Take care of your trash: đď¸ Keep trash bags tightly closed and never leave any food scraps outdoors.
⢠Respect their space: đ If you spot a wild boar, keep your distance, do not try to get closer, and never feed them. Always make sure the animals have a clear escape route so they do not feel cornered.
⢠Watch out for the piglets: đž If you see baby wild boars, remember that the mother will be nearby to protect them. Walk away calmly.
As noted by local updates, regional and governmental authoritiesâincluding the Aljezur Town Hall (Câmara Municipal de Aljezur) and the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF)âare fully aware of the situation. They are currently working together to find a solution to manage the impacts these animals have on agriculture, road safety, and regional biodiversity.
Experiencing this closeness to wildlife is a magical and unforgettable experience.

Perfect place tos stay for a few nights

Extraordinary view from patio and even through the glass door annd window during stormy weather, clean, comfortable, well equipped small home worth every step up the steep hillside. Wonderful hiking on the cliffs, along the Fishermanâs Trail (Rota dos Pescadores) and on the beach. Surf boards for rent just down the hill on the walk to the beach. Joao great at responding. Hope to return.

If you stand on the beach and let your gaze wander, you will inevitably end up at the small house at the end of the cliff. You would love to sit there and watch the sunset - we sat there and looked forward to it every evening. The small house really offered everything that made the stay enjoyable, the communication was always helpful and friendly, the short vacation a gift. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately we were disappointed with this property. I was planning on not writing a review, I gave the owner the chance to update the listing so future guests would have the complete picture before arriving. The owner hasn't done this so now I feel the need to inform people myself.
The owner seems to be a great guy and the communication was perfect. We even received a partial refund because of our complaints. I don't understand why he hasn't updated this listing....
The location is really stunning, the view will never get old. But this little house is right next to another house. You share the terrace, the larger part with the roof over it (see pictures) is not yours. So depending on your luck you might end up with young surfers right next to you. That means hearing their loud music and not enjoying a quiet relaxing vacation....
The houses share walls so you also hear a lot when you are inside.
As you would expect from the photos the inside is really tiny but even with that knowledge we were disappointed again. The bed is extremely small and uncomfortable, it is 1.4m by 1.9m. the shower head is at 1.85m and you can't adjust it.
So with all of this in mind please make the right decision for you. If you don't mind having really close neighbors and are under 1.85m tall this might be the dream place for you. The house was very clean and the location is unbelievably great.
