Hydra Port Apartments

The location is great for those who like to watch the port and are not too sensitive to noise late at night. Everything you need is very close by: supermarket, restaurants, cruises, pharmacy, bakery, cinema, hiking trails. We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the action at the port. The town of Hydra is beautiful and it's fun to just climb through the alleys, walk along the coastline and bathe in the wonderful sea.

The apartment has everything needed for a few days vacation: balcony, kitchen, washing machine, etc... but although the window facing the port is very soundproof, the walls are really not. The entrance to the building is at the level of the port dock, but to reach the apartment there is a long and narrow staircase. The design of the apartment is a bit strange: everything is long and narrow and there is really no space to relax. The reception was with a lady named Aga, who was very rushed and did not explain everything you need to know about the apartment. The owner of the house does not live in Hydra at all. Communication with him was via WhatsApp.

We stayed in the Balcony Room for 4 nights, it has an entry hallway, wardrobe room, kitchen, bathroom, and a bedroom with good sized double bed with french doors to a small balcony with the very best view in Hydra. The position is right on the harbour front and offers a location and outlook that is very rare in Hydra. Everything is at your fingertips, shops, restaurants, cafes, water taxies, donkey transport, and the ferry is only 50 metres walk. Sitting in the balcony with wine in hand and watching the world go by was a great experience that was hard to drag yourself away from, with all manner of craft coming and going, and people making their way around the harbour.. The accommodation was simple but effective - comfortable, clean, lovely air conditioning - it certainly did the job for us for 4 great nights. There are 27 steps up the staircase to the accommodation so be mindful if you have heavy luggage, but we (79 & 78) managed quite okay, with Aga helping us on arrival. Believe me, a bit of agro with the luggage is easily forgotten once you sit on the balcony! Vangelis is a thoughtful and efficient host.

Nothing

The location was the best, overlooking the port. The balcony and view were incredible. The host was really helpful and they even left us a bottle of wine.

The shower wasn’t great, but that was the only down side.
