The room is clean, bed is comfortable. There was blackout curtains in the room. Staffs are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really good, I was surprised they served the breakfast during Christmas. The sewing kit gave me a chance to fix my coat button. Washing machine was clean and I got the chance to clean all my dirty clothes from the trip.

There's no microwave and wine glass in the room.

Well located and the room was nice and comfortable.

There was no kettle for hot water. The coffee machine can make hot water but it smelled like coffee and wasn’t boiling hot…

Good Value and Location.

Great location next to a tram stop (#3), which quickly connects you everywhere. Very nice room with lovely furnishing, very comfortable and functional. Great coffee machine! Nice bar… when it’s open.

I was missing things every time my room was cleaned - had to repeatedly go down and ask for coffee pods and cream. (The smaller toilet wasn’t cleaned?) Which raised another issue, I stayed here expecting a bar/food, but quickly learned the bar/food in my hotel closed early and with varying hours. I was repeatedly directed to the small bar across the street, which was usually full. (Both hotels have the same owners.) I wanted to relax in my own, more spacious hotel bar - it’s why I chose to stay here. Also, my room overlooked the tram line, which ran every 8 minutes and was very loud. The weather was perfect for opening the window/door, but you just couldn’t take the noise for long. I’d ask for a room facing away from the street.

A perfect blend of the old and new...

We stayed in the SET Hotel with a gorgeous view of Der Teufelhof opposite. The two hotels are are a perfect blend of old and new, and both compliment each other beautifully. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome, and this exceptional level of service continued throughout our stay. In particular, a special mention goes out to the team who waited on us at the Atelier restaurant. They made our anniversary meal extra special, sitting us in a delightful semi-private area, with a card and gift already placed on the table. This, together with amazing food and wine, made this an incredibly romantic and intimate experience. Breakfast also deserves high praise. Freshly baked breads of all description awaited us every morning. The brioche loaf was the best I've ever tasted. Together with meats, cheeses, fruits, yogurts and of course, freshly cooked to order, poached eggs, bacon and ham, we were never going to go hungry! The Bar & Cafe Zum Teufel is the perfect spot to simply sit and relax and watch the world go by (with a Stadtmauer beer or two of course) either inside or outside in the pretty front courtyard. Both hotel and staff certainly surpassed our expectations shaped no doubt, by the overriding philosophy of giving guests a truly authentic, unfiltered and honest experience. Simply superb.

Great location, quiet room with a view, accommodating staff, clean.

The only glitch was some kind of motor sound during the night while the AC was running. It would kick in every few minutes all night long. A staff member said he would look into it but never followed up and it did not resolve.

I didn’t liked the breakfast. Every day they have the same breakfast and not so many options. The breakfast was in the other hotel with 3 *. They have to serve the breakfast in the hotel were we stayed, instead of that they have caffe shop and the use their imagination good, but not for the breakfast!

Clean. Modern. Comfortable bed and setup (multiple sinks, closet, shelves), good shower, real fridge, Nespresso and coffee pods. Able to open window. AC and having control over room temperature. Very good breakfast. Everything was great. Staff super super nice and helpful. Excellent location: Walking distance 3-15 minutes to shops, restaurants, old town and river, besides tram access in front of the hotel to anywhere around Basel w a free pass.

The depth of the cabinet above sink/fridge is the same as the depth of the counter… hits head!! Everything was great and we felt we could stay longer comfortably.

Just right, I would stay again.

I liked it a lot. Minimal but with stylish touches. Lovely window over the courtyard garden with birdsong. Aircon - essential when I was there. Clean, good facilities (kitchenette) and minibar with free and paid options. Close to the action but not right in it.

The location was excellent for old Basel. Loved it was next door to the restaurant and bar. Very convenient. Rooms were nice size, had everything we needed. AC was critical as the temps got unusually hot while we were there. Staff was excellent and very helpful. Gym was nice and very clean.

Breakfast was ok, but there wasn't a great choice, and there was no variety. No kettle in room on arrival, and reception didn't have one either. Eventually got one at the hotel opposite. Lukewarm, mediocre reception greeting on arrival & little information given. Limited (non existent) TV channels in English. Limited wardrobe space for longer stays.

I think this is the best hotel in Basel for people, who don't like crowds, but love comfort and cozy

Amazing location - bus stop 20m, tram stop (with all directions - about 200m, but can get with the bus) - also 200m from the old town in all directions. Such a cozy small hotel, don't feel people... super green garden, where u can have lunch or just drink beer. Such a welkoming staff. Super quality breakfest, freashly made and groceries from the farm... Waitresess super firendly and polite, same as all the staff

Wonderful stay in Old Town Basel

The hotel far exceeded my expectations. The staff was very friendly and helpful and arranged a great taxi for our departure to the airport. We arrived well in advance of our check-in time and the staff securely stored our luggage and moved it to our room when it was ready. The lobby coffee and pastry shop was lovely and we enjoyed having breakfast and relaxing a bit before going to explore the area. The neighborhood was quiet and very quaint with nice shops and restaurants within 5–8-minute walking. We added breakfast which was in the sister hotel across the street, The hotel and restaurant were beautiful, and the breakfast was amazing. Highly recommend for a stay in Basel.

Perfect for a city break

The hotel was great, we didn’t realise just how good the location is. A 5 minute walk to the tram stop which is a central hub for the team system. Lots of shopping and restaurants within walking distance also. The hotel itself was very clean and sleek, room was a good size and bed was large and comfortable. I can’t really fault anything with my stay here.

Tv was not accepting the mirroring, not a big deal for me. Shower and toilet area were separate, I like them together since I do all my stuff in one go. I would have liked more toiletries.

Nothing like this has ever happened to me before

Nicely located in a beautiful neighbourhood, clean and the room was equipped with some extras (coffee, flipflops)

We arrived in the evening with no possibility to enter the hotel and had to check in at the neighbouring hotel (we assumed it belongs to the same chain and the instructions left on the entrance were not 100% clear). After finally arriving at the door of our room, it turned out that it was already occupied by someone else. Yes, we entered the room while someone was there already enjoying their evening. And this meant another trip to the reception. We were offered a gesture for the inconvenience - a room upgrade to a room with facilities for people with disability.

We had such a wonderful stay at SET Hotel.Residence by Teufelhof Basel. The room was fantastic! It was so quiet and comfortable and such a joy to come back to in the evenings after a long day exploring the city. We would definitely stay here again.

Fab location but need ear plugs. So noisy

Location was great, 5 min walk to most places to want to be including the Xmas markets. Spacious room and heating worked well.

You need ear plugs for to stay at this property and have a good night sleep. There is zero sound proofing, can hear next doors TV or even when they use a plug socket and upstairs sounded like elephants banging around for hours. The corridors outside the rooms is also concrete not carpet so you can hear everything, wheel suitcases, housekeeping trolleys etc. so so loud. Housekeeping also keep knocking whether you have the do not disturb sign on the door or not and not consistent eg coffees and sugars not replaced after being used sometimes etc. Smart tv only connects to Samsung phones not iPhone, not a major deal but would be nice to have.
