Winter’s Cottage felt welcoming from the moment we opened the door! It had been a long day of traveling from my friend & I, but as soon as we arrived we felt comfortable & were instantly relaxed. The cleanliness ratings were spot on. Clean, without any nasty product odors. Beds were comfortable. Bedroom heaters warmed up quickly when we got back late & house had cooled for the night. Great for sleeping!Sitting room was our favorite spot to unwind each evening. Especially cozy with fireplace going on a chilly night! The water was just like our at home, refreshing! No need for water bottles. We even enjoyed reading about the history of the cottage and looking at the many photos displayed on the walls. We could imagine what it was like years ago.Host was very responsive to questions. She also checked to be sure we made it to the cottage, were able to get in, & that the cottage was in order upon our arrival. The yard is well kept, flowers are lovely, & the scenery —made us smile non-stop! We greatly enjoyed our stay at Winter’s cottage! It was definitely our Scottish home away from home!

Very well equipped historic house of family Winter with a very nice garden and a wonderful view. Good to discover Glen Clova, but also the coastal region between Aberdeen and Dundee. Also St. Andrews, Dunkeld and Pitlochry are not too far away. We strongly recommend the coastal path in St Cyrus! Fiona gave us four (!) pages with recommended restaurants, sights and walks. Very nice owner, quick and friendly communication. Thank you very much again.

We spent 5 nights at this beautiful cottage and enjoyed it very much. The cottage is cozy and well equipped and looks exactly like the pictures on the booking site. The area is perfect, a short drive to the next small town for everything you need and the must beautiful hikes are right out the door. The communication with Fiona was great and she sent us a lot of useful information about what to do and places to see. I would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone who wants to explore this part of beautiful Scotland. Thank you, Fiona!

I was looking for a winter "bolthole" away from the rigours of the weather in the the Outer Hebrides. This is exactly what I got, great location, a cosy house with two very effective fires to ensure warmth. A great variety of pubs/restaurants and within a relatively short drive to the bright city lights. Hosts/ Owners could ot have been more helpful.

Quietly located cottage with beautiful views and large garden.
The cottage is fully equipped.
Flowers in the kitchen/morning room and a bottle of wine in the living room made us feel welcome, we immediately felt at home in this cozy cottage.
The use of the electric heating took some getting used to, but after consultation with the owner no problem.
During the day you can relax in the kitchen / morning room and in the evening sit in the cozy living room.
Great 2 person bed.
Especially the photos told us a lot about the former inhabitants and the history of the cottage.
A great place to explore the area from there.
We enjoyed it very much.

Pleasant and peaceful place to stay in the south of the Cairngorms.
A nice cottage to stay in, you can feel that the owners are trying to make it as pleasant as they can. Not being used to how storage heaters work, we found it a bit cool at times. The log fires in the sitting room was lovely plus the beautiful sunset &, once or twice, the sunrise, was beautiful!
It was interesting to see the owners family tree going back to the 1600s and photos of the people who may have lived there.

Winter's Cottage is a spacious and well equipped cottage with lots of charm and beautiful garden and outdoor area to enjoy. It's in a lovely part of the country which is rural but within easy driving distance of the surrounding area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially as this was an area which we hadn't previously visited and the weather was on the whole kind to us.

The cottage is lovely: fascinating history and with all the comfort and facilities to make for a superb holiday. We particularly appreciated the huge garden and vistas to the fields and hills to the south and the proximity to local walks and spectacular countryside in an area which we hadn't visited before. Would have no hesitation to highly recommend and we hope to return in future. Very helpful friendly host too- thank you!

A really great place to stay!
A really great place to stay!
The property was spotlessly clean for our arrival and the kitchen equipment provided was more than adequate for cooking, serving and storage.
In addition to the very pleasant kitchen/diner, the sitting room, with its two excellent settees and a second television, provided every comfort for evening drinks and relaxation.
The bedrooms allowed ample draw and wardrobe storage and the beds themselves extremely comfortable. It was good to see hairdriers in both bedrooms , and the electric shower in the bathroom provided ample hot water at even temperatures.
On arrival the extensive lawns had been very neatly mown (both of them), and encouraged an outdoor evening glass of wine whilest viewing the hills across the glen.
We highly recommend this property for a rural holiday in beautiful surrounding. We have stayed there on a number of occasion and anticipate a return in the near future.

Historical cottage
Historical cottage
Our stay was most enjoyable - the cottage has the most glorious vistas over the countryside. Good beds with cozy bedding and lots of hot water for baths and showers (however no fan in the bathroom). Excellent electrical heating on the wall radiators too. Well supplied kitchen for cooking, lots of pots and pans etc and heaps of firewood for the efficient fire place in the family room (kitchen and sitting area). Our only complaint was that the couch and two chairs provided in the kitchen room sitting area are extremely uncomfortable. The couch springs appear to have gone and so one sinks almost to the floor! And the seats of the two small chairs are hard and their design does not allow one to relax easily. Other than this issue, we thought the cottage was lovely.

Quaint cottage in a nice village
A quaint cottage far enough out to be relaxing and comfortable, yet close enough for convenience. The garden was beautiful, and the interior updated with modern appliances and features. Guide to everything from local attractions, history, and even all the appliances were provided. We really enjoyed the fireplaces, which kept us warm and cozy. Fiona really has added those extra touches to make your stay great.
