    the hostel was nice, the pool looked great, they had activities on every other night which is good but they’re was barely any social interaction between guests/ this could be due to it being off season but I felt staff could have influenced more interaction between guests. bed was comfortable, now to the bad parts… So to start off they do not provide a towel? I’ve stayed in various different hostels and never experienced that personally, when I rented a towel for 50THB I got given a stained one that did not smell cleaned:(. Secondly, they take a hefty deposit of 300THB in turn for the tiny key they give you, the bad part is that the key doesn’t unlock any lockers as they have no locks on their lockers, and that the main door to the 10 bed dorm is open 24/7 regardless, thus leaving the only reason for giving the key as a money grab system… it seems they want you to lose the key considering it’s the same price as the bed itself. Finally if you are over 10 minutes late to check out you are due to face the late check out fee of 300thb… once again the same price as the whole bed. Overall I wouldn’t stay there again unfortunately…

    One of the worst travel experiences of my life. I stayed at Zostel Patong in Phuket and left feeling completely let down. During my stay, I was riding a scooter wearing a helmet and carrying my valid Moroccan driver's license. I was stopped by police, told I needed the appropriate license for Thailand, and what began as a traffic stop spiraled into something far more serious. I was taken to the police station, held for two days, and ultimately spent over two weeks in jail. Throughout that time, I reached out for help and felt completely abandoned. While I was away, my locker was opened and my passport was handed over to the police. I was never given a clear explanation about why my locker was opened or why I wasn't contacted first. When I was released, I found personal items missing, including a power bank, sunglasses, and some clothes. Even a book that had been gifted to me by a friend was no longer in my locker — later I saw it downstairs with someone else reading it. As a guest, that was deeply unsettling and made me question how guests' belongings are handled. I also had a disappointing situation with a volunteer there who borrowed money from me and, despite repeated promises over several weeks, never repaid it. I eventually just stopped asking. Looking back, what hurt most wasn't just the legal situation — it was feeling that my basic security, privacy, and requests for help weren't respected. Based on my personal experience, I can't recommend this hostel. I hope management seriously rethinks guest security, communication, and accountability so that no one else has a similar experience.
