After checking in and receiving my room key, another female employee directed me to a separate desk and asked to see my ID again without explaining why. Since I had already completed the check-in process, I was unsure of the purpose of this second verification. The employee then proceeded to ask numerous personal questions, including where I was from, where I had traveled from, why I was visiting Seattle, which conference I was attending, and whether I had the conference program with me. There were several additional questions that felt unrelated to my hotel stay. At no point was it made clear why this information was being requested. The interaction felt unnecessarily intrusive and uncomfortable. I felt screened and interrogated rather than welcomed. I explained that I was extremely tired after traveling and was already upset because my suitcase had just fallen and broken as I entered the hotel. Despite this, the conversation continued for several minutes before it became apparent that the purpose was to discuss discounts, membership benefits, and promotional offers. The entire experience felt more like a timeshare sales presentation than a hotel check-in. Had I been asked upfront whether I was interested in hearing about these offers, I would have politely declined. This experience created a very poor first impression. In addition, the property lacks several amenities that are standard at many similarly priced hotels in downtown Seattle. There is no air conditioning, no daily housekeeping service, the rooms have old, thick carpeting that feels dated, a $250 deposit is required at check-in, and Wi-Fi is not included and must be purchased separately. While the location is convenient, I found the overall value disappointing. Many nearby hotels offer more modern facilities, complimentary Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, and a more straightforward guest experience for a similar price. Based on my experience, I would choose one of those alternatives on a future visit.
