    This is our second stay here and we will happily stay again. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the room is clean and comfortable. The shower is amazing - super hot water and great water pressure. The bed was comfortable allowing us to get a good night sleep after a few long days of travel. We look forward to another stay in the future.

    Ever wondered what it was like to stay in a Vinnies shop? Welcome to White Lantern. First up, there are white lanterns everywhere in Armidale, and those at the drive-in entrance need attention along with the sorry landscaping (we did our best to nourish shrubs with put compost) Great Nepalese staff in reception - kudos right there for supporting the students. AI talks about ‘mildly kitschy’ but I’m going all in - it’s kitsch, bad taste, any ambition of interior design is absent, a hodge podge of … junk crammed into a dated box. Reviews mention chocolates? Might have been tactical if consistent - no sign of those. The motel sector feeds off the NFS and renewable energy contractors with their negotiated rates but couples are spoilt for choice in this town. Better-capitalised chains with a budget for decor will in time raise the standard but as at September 2026 it would appear owners call the shots while eschewing capital reinvestment. Never mind the passé star rating era, a case to shun the review economy and go with your gut-feeling. Reward those motel owners who put some thought into aesthetics.
