Hotel is tucked away from the touristy area, but with many restaurants and food shops around. Room is aesthetically designed and clean. Bed is big and comfortable with high quality linens and comfortable pillows. Bathroom is spacious, the rain shower and Le Labo bath products are definitely plus points. A short walk (2-3 blocks) from Tin Hau station, but there’s a nearby tram stop, a few steps away. Definitely a highly recommended hotel in HK, especially if you want to stay in a peaceful and not very touristy neighborhood yet still accessible.

Return guest here. Gotten the smaller room this time round. Personally prefer less touristy areas. This is nice for me as there are many food, convenience stores/mini mart nearby. Short walk to MTR, options to bus/tram around too Note there’s only rain shower in the bathroom instead of the usual shower mixer or both.

I booked TUVE specifically because of its design, and I intentionally booked two different room types during my stay because I wanted to experience the different room aesthetics. In particular, I chose the Comfort Room because I preferred its warmer wood design. Without asking me first, the hotel changed my booking into one room type for all three nights and placed me in a Deluxe Room. The hotel later described this as a complimentary upgrade because the Deluxe Room is larger, but this did not feel like an upgrade to me. The reason I booked the Comfort Room was the design, not the square footage. A bigger room is not automatically better when a guest intentionally selected a specific room type for its aesthetic. When I raised this, the hotel said the Comfort Rooms were fully booked. To me, that only reinforced the point that the Comfort Room is a desirable room type with a strong design, not simply a “lower” room category. Instead of offering a meaningful solution after changing my original room plan, the hotel offered paid upgrades to Premier rooms. The “discounted” upgrade rates were higher than the rates I had seen for those room types when I originally booked the hotel, which made the response feel even more transactional. This was especially disappointing because it was my birthday stay. You only get one birthday a year, and I could have chosen any number of hotels in Hong Kong that likely would have handled a special occasion with more care — whether through a room gesture, breakfast, dessert, a welcome amenity, or simply better communication. Instead, TUVE changed the room plan I intentionally booked, would not move me into the room type I originally selected once it was sold out, and then expected me to pay to upgrade on my own birthday to fix an issue created by their room allocation. The birthday gesture offered was two bottles of juice, which felt very misaligned with the actual problem. I had not asked for juice; I wanted the room experience I had intentionally booked. The hotel itself has a beautiful visual identity, but the customer experience did not match the design. For a design-focused boutique hotel, room type and room aesthetics matter. If a guest books a specific room type, especially for a birthday stay, the hotel should not change that plan without asking and then treat the guest’s disappointment as something to solve with a paid upgrade and juice. Overall, this stay left me feeling that TUVE does not handle special circumstances or service recovery with the level of care I would expect from a boutique design hotel.
