I stayed here as a last minute stay to help my travel be sorter to my destination, what strikes me was the price it was the cheapest place at the time, pet friendly which was great I could bring my dog along, the 1st impression was omg is this the place ( the pub does look scruffy and dated) but dont let that put u off..
There is a door to the right of the pub outside which is the actual entrance to there rooms when you get a key , it has a lift so it's great for anyone with a disability, the room was nice, basic but does the job , the en suite shower room is compact but also does the job especially for an over night stay, it's a short walk into town and you are directly opposite the train station and the castle ... my sleep was ok, can be a little noisy with some guests, with doors bumping on the 1st floor there is slight noise from the pub down stairs, but it wasn't too bad, you can hear the tv fine without it being loud...
So all in all
Great budget place
Directly near town ,bars ,cafes ect parking of need can be up the side rds past the postoffice and prison free of charge.

This small newly renovated hotel is a winner for all budget travellers. Clean,comfortable and great value for money, this little gem belies its name; it is anything but tumbledown! Great value for your money and so close to town, transport and attractions.

There was construction on the street outside our room. It was horrible. But the construction on the adjoining wall of our room turns out was even worse. There were open used milk cartons next to the kettle in the room so if that wasn’t clean, what else wasn’t clean in the room. It was all a mess. Overpriced and didn’t disclose the construction. Asked for a refund. Was refused. Definitely don’t recommend. Stay up the street somewhere else.
