The Whispering Inn

We stayed at this property for 3 nights, and while the room was clean at check-in, that was the last bit of housekeeping we saw without having to ask for it ourselves. Our room was not cleaned after check-in — it only got attention once we specifically requested it. This level of service is simply unacceptable for a paying guest. The breakfast experience was equally disappointing. The food was unhygienic and barely edible. Even something as basic as boiled eggs wasn't done right — properly boiling an egg isn't a difficult task, yet they got it wrong. When we asked for an omelette instead, we were flatly told that boiled eggs were the only option for the day. Adding to the hygiene concerns, used plates were left lying in the corridor for hours with no staff in sight to clear them. To add to the list of basics they couldn't get right, the WiFi simply didn't work for the entirety of our stay. It's worth noting that even the most modest, run-down cafes in Manali manage to offer functioning WiFi — yet a property charging guests for a stay couldn't provide something this fundamental. The most frustrating part of our stay, however, was the check-in and checkout experience. At 11:30 am, we were told no rooms were ready because previous guests hadn't vacated yet. Understandable delays happen — but what followed was not. It was raining heavily that Monday morning, and we simply asked for a one-hour late checkout so we could step out for breakfast. The manager, Mr. Jagdish Thakur, refused outright, saying he could "at most" offer 30 minutes. When we pointed out that we were only asking for an extra hour given the weather, his response was: "if 30 minutes is not much, you can vacate right now." We had nothing left to say after that and ended up leaving in the rain. This kind of behavior toward guests is completely inappropriate for someone in a customer-facing, hospitality role. Basic courtesy and flexibility — especially in genuinely difficult circumstances like heavy rain — should not be this hard to come by. I would strongly urge the management to review Mr. Thakur's conduct and take appropriate corrective action, as this is not the standard guests should expect to be treated with.
