    Good rooms, good breakfast, great staff. The common room creates very easy opportunity to talk to other travellers. When I was there the crowd was quite mixed in age, probably because it's not a party hostel and prices are moderate. The staff are nice and around 24/7. The manager was extremely helpful with a parcel delivery issue, went above and beyond to try and help. Slight negatives to me: I don't think it should be marketed as a "luxury backpackers". Yes, it stands out by providing included breakfast (buffet style, make your own eggs, freshly baked bread rather than just toast) and room service, but the facilities are not close to luxurious (even with a "superior room"). The lock situation needs to be improved: The number locks on the rooms are clumsy and tedious (better: use key or card), and writing to a WhatsApp chat every time you want the gate opened to drive your car in to me unheard of (hand out remotes). The parking is also extremely tight, I ended up leaving the car on the two parking spots outside the front, the neighbourhood seemed safe enough to me (lots of expensive cars parked on the street). V&A Waterfront (15min) and CBD (25min) are within walking distance. There are a couple of restaurants just 5min away down the hill as well.

    All the staff are so nice and helpfull, especially Abdul, Laura, Chantel, Matilda. I love the room, its very comfortable for me. The location is close to waterfront but i think its abit impossible to walk there for me because need to pass main street. But i still love this place. And they create community so people can go together to some places. Highly recommend this place.

    RECOMMENDED I had a very pleasant stay at The Big Luxury Backpackers. The hostel offers a great balance between comfort, social atmosphere, and good value, making it a perfect option for travelers looking for a relaxed but well-managed place to stay. THE HOUSE The facilities are clean, well organized, and thoughtfully maintained. A special thank you to the cleaning team, who do an excellent job every day — the common areas and rooms are consistently spotless, which really makes a difference during a stay. BREAKFAST Breakfast is another highlight. The kitchen team is ready before 7am, preparing fresh fruits, bread, and coffee to start the day comfortably. Guests also have the option to cook their own eggs using the iron pans provided, which adds a nice personal touch and makes the experience feel more homely. HOSPITALITY & STAFF What truly stands out is the front desk team. Jocelin, Chantelle, Abdul, and John genuinely make guests feel welcome from the moment they arrive. They are professional, friendly, and always trying their best to help, whether it’s giving recommendations, assisting with requests, or simply creating a warm atmosphere. CONCLUSION Overall, a reliable and comfortable backpacker with great hospitality and a team that clearly cares about the guest experience. I would happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Cape Town.

    The hostel is favoured by the Israeli community (owners, patrons) so can feel exclusive and unwelcoming.. however dwelling itself was ok
