Why demand a $100 deposit?

The check in lady was nice but you would not know that was her job until she went behind the desk. Her and her significant other were hanging outside sitting on the concrete watching videos in their pajamas holding a cat. 100 dollar cash deposit and we did the ATM that had a fee. Didn't mind it too much it was just weird since most others use credit card. She gave us a used room but easily accomadates us to another. In the other a piece of metal was sticking out of the outlet of the lamp and I got zapped turning it on. I was super tired so I decided to tell someone in the morning when we checked out. Place was not the cleanest but not terrible. No evidence of cockroaches or bed bugs like other guests experienced. Lots of staining and some cigarette burns but that doesn't mean it's not clean. Layout not great and smoking rooms were near non smoking so the hallways smelled like cigarettes. Breakfast was bread and butter and juice. We expected more for sure from our previous Super 8 experiences. Hallways were pretty noisy at night. Once we checked out the Indian(assuming) didn't care to here any explanation of the room change (wasn't complaining just explaining why the room number was different on the slip) and she cut us off with okay, only said okay to the piece of metal that shocked me. Overall I would never recommend anyone stay there. They need a lot of improvements.

The room had roaches and spiders pubic hair on bathroom floor. Front desk personnel was honest to whichever higher power you believe in so unhelpful. moldy smell terrible front counter service despite my blantent dissatisfied demeanor and no security with guests fighting in hallways and out front
