    Our group of five—two adults and two children—played in the pool and walked along the beach (we only played in the sand, not in the water). At the pool, we saw other children jumping directly into the pool after walking back from the beach without rinsing off. That evening, my eldest son developed a fever, and two days later, my younger son got influenza A. I also contracted it, and my husband developed several large red spots that day, like insect bites. One person who didn't play in the pool but just enjoyed the breeze at the beach remained perfectly healthy. Note: This is not a private beach; there are public areas where vehicles can access the beach.
