We booked the accommodation via Agoda, which initially did not seem to be familiar to the property. This led to several misunderstandings, and at first we did not receive the room we had booked. We had specifically reserved a room with air conditioning but were initially given one without. Resolving the issue was quite exhausting. We had to repeatedly explain what Agoda is, why the price was reduced due to a promotional voucher, and provide screenshots and booking confirmations several times. At the beginning, we felt rather dismissed and not properly understood, which made the situation unnecessarily frustrating. Only after some back and forth and a clarifying phone call with a responsible person was the matter finally resolved. During the night there was a power outage, which meant that the air conditioning would not have worked anyway. Power cuts are fairly common in Lilongwe, so we do not see this as the property’s fault. The staff members in the kitchen and laundry area were exceptionally friendly and helpful and deserve special mention. The reception staff, however, appeared rather distant and could have been more welcoming. Cleanliness was good. Breakfast was local and good as well. Security was ensured by a roll-up gate and a security guard, which we appreciated. Overall, a decent stay with clear organizational difficulties at the beginning, but also definite strengths in cleanliness, security, and the service of some staff members.
