A community pub with rooms, The Southern Cross is perfectly located for visiting the city with free parking and just a few minutes walk to Watford Junction rail and Lioness Line with six or more trains an hour into Euston.
Comfortable accommodation and friendly staff make up for it beginning to look a bit tatty and the food offering is good value.
We will return next time we fancy a couple of days away to go to the west end, museums or art exhibitions.

I stayed overnight here for the Warner bros studio tour and this is the best location if that’s what you are for in Watford. Just walk 5mins to the station and you get the shuttle to the tour from there. Plus the hotel has a great pub, loved the vibes and people there are very polite and friendly, as well as helpful. Just FYI, they do not have elevators and room might be small for two people, but for solo travellers, this is the best stay for the Warner bros tour

The staff who worked there was very friendly, he helped take our bags up to the room. The room itself was very clean and all the amenities and toiletries were prepared. We were very lucky to have a shared bathroom that nobody else was using for the night. The hotel was only less than 10 minutes away from the Watford station. Overall, a very wonderful stay.
