    Our 1-night stay at Shangri-La Hambantota had its highlights, centered around a room with an absolutely stunning view and an amazing pool area that made relaxing outdoors pure bliss. However, our comfort was cut short overnight as the air conditioning was not working properly, causing us to wake up in the middle of the night to uncomfortable heat inside the room. The dining experience was equally disappointing, as both the dinner and breakfast buffets suffered from a limited selection and were served in an overwhelmingly crowded, noisy dining room where we could barely hear each other talk. The one saving grace at dinner was the wonderful live music, with the exceptionally talented violinist doing a fantastic job that truly lifted the evening.

    Large manicured gardens, long stretches of beach and ocean view rooms make this a great place to stay. The kids club and pool are nice to keep young kids occupied.

    Some staff give priority to white people. Eg. ask for hand wash pot but received after we have finished eating i.e. after another reminder.
