    We stayed 8 nights during the Penghu fireworks festival at SDU Hotel in twin room. The room provided was not renovated and thus musty - I spent a bad night sneezing. Without any fuss, the staff changed us to another room. This hotel is quite old and as expected needs updating, new grouting in the bathroom etc. However, the older surroundings did not prevent us from enjoying our stay at SDU. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We felt immediately attached to the sweet dog Meatball or Mar-Wun, who belongs to the manager. The manager, Ee-yu and Aden, the night clerk, were friendly, helpful and treated us like family. They generously shared food and care for our welfare during the stay. Water refill provided, but no tea/coffee, all cleaning provided on request to day team. We hope SDU finish the renovations in progress soon, so that people can enjoy the warm hospitality there. Close to laundromat, cheap eats, local market, and fireworks festival. Penghu has much to offer visitors besides beaches, the history is interesting. Parking is a little bit challenging near this hotel but not too much bother. Car helps with travel enjoyment on Penghu. Thanks SDU team!
