Reception staff, especially Filip and Candice, were extremely helpful. Filip gave us very good suggestions about what we could do at Alta besides chasing the northern lights. We had to check out very early in the morning due our flight and the hotel packed breakfast for us - amazing service indeed. The room, although a bit old, was extremely clean and comfortable for the three of us. Definitely a good place to stay when visiting Alta.

Despite a car parking area are right outside the hotel, it is a 24/7 parking fee additional to your room cost. Apparently the land belongs to the "city" and it is 'them' charging the parking. Ridiculous, the hotel should comp the parking for paying guests. Otherwise, clean hotel with great water pressure and a nice breakfast.

I stayed in several Scandic Hotels in Germany and was expecting a similar standard from the one in Alta. Con: Small room, loud and lousy air-conditioning, when arriving on the floor one is confronted with the laundry carts full of really dirty laundry, bed was tiny for two people, room empty (no slippers, tea, coffee, water, or anything), older bathroom, biggest deal breaker: dirty towels. No way this is 4 star level. Pro: Location, friendly staff, breakfast (which is good but I have seen better in Scandic hotels) Next night I spent at a different hotel close by which had better rooms for a lower price. Same service and location. I'm not booking Scandic Alta again. They might have better rooms, I didn't get one, though. Not worth their prices.
