This being a remote island, don't expect anything on the hip side. This ryokan is rather dated, although rooms and bedding are clean. The hot baths are also a bit ricketty. Bring all your Japanese language skills for communication. The breakfast is exclusively Japanese (rice, miso, smoked fish, green tea) and coffee comes as a payable supplement. As we extended our stay by one night at the last minute, there wasn't enough ingredients for the last breakfast! Good to know: there are scooter rentals nearby: great to explore the island, if you have an international driver's license.
