Riviera Motel

I have been a guest at this establishment many times without any problems at all often extending my stays with them. The property has new owners and these people are the worst team i have ever encountered. They lord it over guests try and manipulate and control people ordering gurst around like they are doing guests a favour letting YOU stay there! First issue was check in I requested an early checkin and I accept these cannot always be accomodated for but the way in which i was told by the male owner was very abrupt like i had made a stupid request that he had never encountered before. So i left it thinking some people are not people friendly. When I arrived to check in to my relief i had the female owner greet me quite pleasently. I advised her that my partner and i had a car each. She said parking was infront of the room. I asked could i leave the other vehicle on the grass next to the carport and she said yes that vehile would be fine where it was on the grass. My partner and i began to get settled into the room and about an hour on he took one car and left from the front of the room and i did not expect him back until early morning. Unfortunatley i did notice he had accidentlt left with both keys. I didnt think much of this as the other car was where it was permitted to be parked on the grass area. As i always do my washing at the hotel i collected a basket of washing and upon walking to the laundry room i found it to be locked. When i attended reception i was advsied by the female owner of the propery that the laundry facilities were now solely accessable to the housekeeping staff and that i should attend the laundrymat a few blocks up. I returned to my room and upon remembering i didnt have keys to the other vehicle I checked the hotel advertisement on my prefered booking app agoda and found very clearly laundry facilities were advertised as part of the booking. I returned to the female at the front counter and requested she make an exception this once as we had a family event on im the morning and i dud not have the keys to move the other vehicle. From behind a door the male owner comes out and requests i move the car parked on the grass as they needed the area. Upon explation of me not having access to the keys until after midnight, the owner raised his voice to me and told me that he was having it towed as i was never allowed to park the vehicle where it is and he would be getting it towed. I asked for help from the women thay had given me permission to use the spot for parking and she back tracked providing a version where she had said only for a short time. Sensing she was scared if this man I asked he lower his voice from the shouting tone he was currently using and then he screamed at me gestering dramatically in the air towards the door that i was OUT and to leave the premisis. I remained in the office as i told him i wanted a refund else i would have to sleep on the street as i did not have the funds to book another room. He refused to issue a refund. And called the police. I went to the room amd called my partner who was visiting friends that he would need to return from what he was doing with the keys to the other vehicle. Upon his arrival i moved the vehicle outside the back gate and entered to gather the rest of our belongings. Once packed i went to the back gate which was locked amd my request was denied. Explained that I would then have to walk two blocks stuff in the car if they do not open the back gate. They told me to walk. The male owner then grabbed my bags that had been left and toss them onto the street dropping a Dremel and smashing the case and kicking one of the baskets was on the sidewalk. No refund or apologies. I

Very nice rooms. Staff are wonderful and so helpful. Perfect for being walking distance to city and hinkler shopping centre

I was very surprised at the size of our room. Although the kitchenette and bathroom were somewhat dated, they were clean with no damage. Great position close to the town centre. Thank you for a trouble free stay.
