    Wonderful location next to everything you’d want to visit, and hard to beat. Staff were very personable and helpful but could be a little more organised. Promised to contact us when the room was ready/to deliver extra hangers/to deliver our luggage to room.but had to be reminded to do so. Room was very clean but dark and felt rather dated. Comfortable bed and good shower.. Appreciate it’s an old, characterful Inn but definitely needs a refresh for what was a fairly high-end price. The.public areas were disappointing, in that the Bar was really part of the restaurant and the lounge felt more like a waiting area, rather than a comfortable lounge. Sadly, did not live up to expectations

    I stayed here with high expectations for Charleston’s hospitality, but my experience was far from luxury. 1. Odors and Aging Issues: On my first day, the room had a persistent, unpleasant smell that made it hard to feel comfortable. The "vintage" charm of this hotel is unfortunately masking poor maintenance. 2. Safety Concern (Elevator Trap): I actually got stuck in the elevator on day 1. The staff’s response was shocking—they told me it "happens frequently." If a safety hazard is a "common occurrence," that is a major red flag for any guest. I ended up taking the stairs for the rest of my stay. 3. Dining Disappointment: While the service at Peninsula Grill was professional, the food was remarkably underwhelming and lacked flavor. It does not live up to the hype. 4. The "Upgrade" Mess: On my final day, I was promised a room upgrade in exchange for moving. After hearing nothing until the morning, I received a call at 12:37 PM while I was out, forcing me to rush back. The "upgraded" room turned out to be smaller and lacked a bathtub—a significant downgrade for someone looking to relax. The hotel seems more interested in its historical image than in the actual safety and comfort of its guests. I would not recommend staying here if you value reliability and quality service.

    Loved Planters Inn and I’ll be back. It’s historic, the location to the Market, eateries and shopping is unbeatable, and the bed and linens were fantastic. Great place!
